We have to take care of our bodies folks. Too many great people leave this world too soon.

Sad to see the news. I enjoyed watching him coach and comment on games.

Very sad to hear this. He was a very respected coach and person. He had the St. Louis University basketball team headed back to respectability before his latest illness and was respected maybe even more as a person than as a coach.

Very sad to hear. He was well respected as a coach, and one of the funniest interviews I've ever heard. Too bad he could never get his health in line.

From USAToday. A nice, complimentary article. I've long thought that Coach Majerus was one of the class acts and genuine human beings in the collegiate coaching ranks.

Crummy.
Coach Majerus was definitely one of the more entertaining fixtures of college basketball. __________________ The waitress said, "We have stuffed mushrooms, veal-stuffed shells, white pizza, pasta, steamed mussels...." "Just keep it coming," Rick Majerus replied. "Would you like some veal parmesan?" "Yeah, we'll take five of those." The waitress walked away. "Does she know I'm not kidding?" Majerus said. "I hope she knows I'm not kidding." [Sports Illustrated, 3/17/2000] |

RIP. I remember last winter a couple SLU games were on and were being discussed on this forum. Multiple people commented on his appearance, noting that he did not look well.
I am not surprised, but it is sure sad to see his passing. __________________ One word... Consistency. |

But, in all seriousness, Majerus was one of my favorite coaches and this saddens me. The college basketball world lost a good one today. |

He was definitely beloved here. I was actually planning on going to the game tomorrow. I think it will be incredibly difficult for the team to play or for the fans to even be up for the game, but hopefully the Billikens can honor him with an emotional victory. He will be missed.

Great guy. Great coach. True coaching original. Great run to final
Four with Utah blowing away some very good teams. Will be missed. |
