Nathan Scheelhaase's dad accused of criminal trespass

The father of an Illini football player is in legal trouble. Nate Creer is the father of quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase. Creer was arrested for criminal trespass this morning.

The Champaign County State's Attorney says he showed up to an ex-girlfriend's home uninvited. Jan Johnson woke up to the sound of him in her home, so she called police.

I would think they are. His dad has been at every spring practice/game since scheelhaase got here.

This is kind of a dumb thread... Nathan is a good kid and I am sure this is embarrassing for him and this just needs to be taken down.

I guess I really jumped to a conclusion there when I shouldn't have. I assumed because of the differing last names that there was a good chance of a rift between the two. My bad.

Nate Creer and Ms. Scheelhaase were never officially married, but they were basically living as if they were. No huge rift between Nathan and his father, but I sometimes wonder if his dad is more of a "college kid" than he is.

This is really unfortunate for Nathan on how this hit the news. Nathan is nothing like that. Hopefully this all works out for the best somehow.

Those among us that have done something this stupid while intoxicated when we are no longer 19, or 22, but in out 40's?

Not so many.

Having said that, Nate is a good kid. A somewhat embarassing family episode but he will move on quickly from this.
