Meanwhile Crandall Head checks in at #11. I noticed when i saw Jereme this summer he was very casual and letting his teammates do their thing. If he decides to look at the rim again he will be back in the top 10

Maybe this will keep the vultures (eg UK!) away from him!

I kind of expected Jereme to drop as other players caught up to him. His attitude seems to have softened a bit. For a year or more, I've believed Crandall would surpass him and prove the better prospect, and that now seems to be happening, although it's still early and JR might regain his position.

I'm sorry but, Richmond is an outstanding recruit.... if they are saying there are 31 better recruits in the 2010 class then this class must be better than the 2007 class, and maybe the best EVER.... or at least IMO that?s what Rivals is saying by this release.Rivals proves yet again they are a "what have you done for me lately" recruiting site. Anybody paying money for them, IMO, is being robbed.

It?s really appalling at the lack of thought and effort that obviously goes into ranking and grading recruits by these sites, and its a fact if a recruit has already verballed to a school, most of the time they get little to NO attention at all....How long till Head is dropped in the rankings as well? I give it 3-4 months before he's a 4 star and under the top 40. Afterall we wouldnt want to take up all the 5 star slots for all of Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, and OSU's players... right!

I can only see this as a positive for Richmond, honestly. You have already, from a coach's perspective, gotten him to commit and you know he is going to be a top player. There is always the BUT factor and that is what DMac hopefully has learned last year. How does that relate to Richmond? What scouts are saying is he doesn't play with intensity all game. Sound familiar? Him dropping can have a positive affect on him if he is reading why. He has terrific talent. He needs to work hard. I couldn't care less if he is 10 or 32. He is going to be good. He just has to put forth the effort 100%!

I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing if he is rated lower. It might be the motivation he needs to pick it up a notch. He certainly seems to have the ability.

Checking in on the Rivals 150 for 2009 -- Brandon Paul 49; DJ Richardson 57; Joseph Bertrand 77; Tyler Griffey 123.

With those guys and the 2010 guys coming in, I am very optimistic for this team in the next few years. What will be interesting is just what type of team we have this year. My guess is that we will be good, but not great. If things go well we might just flirt with being a fringe top 25 team....optimism for the future is great fun!

Definitely a "what have you done for me lately" type of ranking. I don't see why they'd downgrade Richmond's talent from 5 stars to 4 stars. It's not like he's suddenly become a worse player.

It would be cool to be a little birdie and hear what kind of advice Luther is giving Crandall on his game and what he needs to be doing now for the next level.

Hopefully Jereme has the same drive and mental attitude as D-Will on practice and this will drive him harder.

One thing I am surprised that Evan Anderson from Wisconsin moved ahead of him-I heard hes good and there were some kids that go to my school that have played him but seems to have been shut down when he played smaller schools.

Another thing-OSU has two top 10 prospects.....Why!? They are a football school, with a coach that isn't very good. Whatever....hope those guys have fun in the NIT

I wouldn't make too much fun of them, we couldn't even make the NIT.

Yeah, I wouldnt talk too much trash till we beat them, which shouldnt be too far down the road

Anyway I dont think too much of JR's drop in the rankings. Hes still a tremendous talent who will do wonders for our bball team...I agree with those who say this is a what-have-you-done-lately type of thing. On the other side, Crandall's really moved up the ranks. We have another 5-star prospect....wow.

More than anything else, I love how this is now the debate instead of stupid distractions. The Loosiers are now the ones hard-pressed for discussion topics, while we're the ones looking at a sunny future....oh how quicky the tables have turned!!

So, #32 huh ............

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recru...oel&id=3461450

Quote:
Jereme Richmond (6-7, 190)
2010, Waukegan, Ill
Richmond had the most ability and upside of any of the prospects at this event. His length and bounce are high level and his skills are not far behind. His jump shot is feathery out beyond the stripe, and he was clearly the best passer -- either from the post and/or the perimeter. He has a great feel for the game and rarely forces the action. In addition, he had a couple of rebounds in traffic that were quite impressive. Despite all these attributes there is one area that appears to be a glaring weakness. In a camp during which most of the players were giving maximum effort at all times, he appeared to float on too many occasions and didn't demonstrate the necessary toughness you'd like to see in a gifted prospect.
That last part doesnt drop you 25+ spots.... get real Rivals!!

Re: Richmond drops to #32 in rivals updated rankings....

Surprised no one said anything about Tyler Griffey dropping to 123. What a laugh!

Clearly, just because he has limited viz on the circuit this summer, while he focuses on getting himself ready for next year. Another thread had one recruiting service actually see him this summer, and immediately raised his ranking into the top 50, IIRC, ahead of all our other 2009 recruits.

And Bertrand is dinged because he doesn't play full tilt 100% of the time, but when he does, the reports are essentially speechless about him.

So, take it all with a grain of salt.

All these guys are really, really good. And together, ooooohhhhh baabby! Gonna have some real fun watching these kids!

But, we are going to start having fun again THIS coming year.

GO ILLINI and LONG LIVE THE CHIEF ! !

Wow, comments like that make me want to puke. Not all great players go to those schools. Look at rivals 5 star prospects for 2007 only one of those 28 went to duke...none to UNC and none to Kansas. A lot of these kids are that good, especially the 2010 class. I am so sick of Illinois fans being so pessimistic.

There is no doubt that Illinois will be amongst the elite programs, once again, with these kids.

I think borange was just being sarcastic, not cynical.

But, otoh, Duke had 9 McDAA's on it's roster LAST YEAR, whereas our beloved Illini have had 6-7 McDAA's on our roster ... over the LAST 20 YEARS. But this is changing as we speak...

I am disappointed you are so harsh on Duke's last year when they were clearly in a rebuilding year

After awhile on boards, you get a better understanding of who those "self loathing" fans are. There are very few on this board, because most are on one particular board!
