Only winning games at a high percentage will make me feel better. It's a sad fan who is happy because their team isn't the very worst.

There are only 3 teams in the NL with a better winning percentage than the Cubs.

I'm a Cubs die-hard living in central Illinois in a family with divided baseball allegiances. Needless to say, baseball season hasn't always been easy for me. Cardinals fans are the most sanctimonious fans in baseball, as evidenced by them calling themselves the "best fans in baseball", and I am continuously surrounded by them.

The Cardinals losing is almost as enjoyable as the Cubs winning.

And PCA getting called up to replace him?

That seems a tad shortsighted to me, I dunno. He absolutely has to be playing every day, and does that actually benefit the big league club at this moment?
you don’t bring him up to watch from the dugout .

if he’s not playing 5 games a week , it’s stupid

When asked, Counsell specifically said yesterday that PCA was only going to be a pinch runner/defensive substitute/spot starter. I don't disagree with that because we are trying to win games but if that's all he would be doing, I agree, bring someone else up and let him get at bats at Iowa.

Maybe they are trying to make him comfortable around MLB in general. They could think that in his case it could more important than the at bats.
I'm not a Cubs insider, obviously know nothing about their thinking.
I agree, there is someone else in the minors who plays good defense and can run bases.

16-9
but should be 19-6
When you looked at our April schedule before the season & you see Texas, LAD, Padres, D-backs, Astros… you start wondering if we can play .500 ball this month.

Considering we have lost Steele, Tallion, Merryweather, Suzuki, & now Bellinger for considerable stretches… Not to mention Kyle being completely ineffective ….16-9 looks pretty darn good.

Wicks replaced on the roster by Richard "Dick" Lovelady. ERA at Iowa of 5.84. He's undoubtably the best they have.

Former Cub Kenny Holtzman has passed away.
Just heard about his passing. I remember his 1967 season when he could only pitch on weekends because he was in the National Guard. Saw him at Wrigley Field. His record that summer? 9-0. Yes, U of Illinois and University City High School, St. Louis. Thanks and RIP, Ken.
