yep. he wants to come to Illinois and I still expect he will. just wants to get his $Meh…just trying to maximize his bag.
Think he was a package deal but Storrs camp told them Hill doesn’t move the needle for them so they backed off would be my assumptionHave we cooled on Hill? He always seemed like a 2nd tier option, but sounded like a guy who would commit here given the chance.
ppg doesn't tell much in this case. In his last two years at TT, TSJ scored about 25-29 points per 100 possessions, had a true shooting % of 56-58%, and win shares of 0.165-0.195. In his first year with us, he was at the high end of those ranges yet increased ppg by playing more minutes and taking more shots.Shannon was a 10 ppg guy at Texas Tech. We thought he'd be a good add, but Ayo level good? Nah.
Domask? I see its already been pointed out, but so many were befuddled by that take and thought he'd fill a role and nothing more.
There is no guarantee AJ is 1 and done here and there is no such thing as “multi-year guys” anymore. I understand how new this all feels and not being accustomed to it yet, but this is the Wild West and it’s going to be every single year.I just don't see how paying for one year of AJ Storr could in any way be worth it unless you win a national title next year. You could use that money to get two multi-year guys that fit the long term vision better.
I'll be honest after reading these threads the last several days, I ask: who is Jake Davis? LOL.Jake Davis. First transfer commit.
Oh okay so we’ll find out he’s going to Baylor in August thenyep. he wants to come to Illinois and I still expect he will. just wants to get his $

I'm sure it required improvement to earn more playing time and get more shots, but those pre-Illinois efficiency metrics are way above any of the rumored/confirmed transfers.

It is really annoying that we all have to kind of nod along to this world of make-believe that every top 100 recruit and every desirable transfer (a universe of 200+ guys) is being recruited to next year's team in order to immediately then become an NBA player. Even mentioning the thought of evolving at a college program from one year to the next is a faux pas, despite the mathematical fact that it will be the reality for the vast majority. There is no guarantee AJ is 1 and done here and there is no such thing as “multi-year guys” anymore. A totally legitimate objective on his part, IMO (understand you aren't saying otherwise). That's the beauty of capitalism. He can test the free market and maximize his earnings. We can either take it, or leave it. Brad and his assistants benefit from the same system. I'm good with it all the way around.yep. he wants to come to Illinois and I still expect he will. just wants to get his $
...and those who were befuddled by Domask apparently didn't look much at his stats. Those suggested he was good, and were better than the rumored/confirmed transfers. 56.6% true shooting, 0.162 win shares/40, 29pts/100 possessions.Shannon was a 10 ppg guy at Texas Tech. We thought he'd be a good add, but Ayo level good? Nah.

The staff deserves confidence that Tre White is going to be developed into the star he had the talent to be in HS, but the staff also deserves confidence that they are cooking and Denzel-ing so elite-ly that Tre White is going to be the 7th man.Regurgitate all the stats you want.
My point is that this staff should have earned a lot of confidence from folks that they're currently not getting. Argue that point if you'd like, I have no interest in a statistical presentation ping-pong match here.
In as good as position as anyone else, but he wants to break the bank.
Eh, you make a fair point - you're not wrong... but also, the internet's gonna internet. The staff deserves confidence that Tre White is going to be developed into the star he had the talent to be in HS, but the staff also deserves confidence that they are cooking and Denzel-ing so elite-ly that Tre White is going to be the 7th man.
It gets tiresome, guys.
Pink Floyd / Basketball songs alphabeticalJust work on being comfortably numb until the roster is set.
You're assuming something I'm not saying. I'm merely saying the stats of the confirmed/rumored transfers are worse than TSJ's and Domasks were. I'm not saying they can't or won't improve or that the coaches are making poor decisions. Lots of our recruits have improved. TSJ and Domask improved (well, Domask didn't statistically, but that's probably due to our team defense metrics pulling his numbers down as well as higher level of competition). You are really grasping at straws here. Ayo outperformed expectations. Kofi outperformed expectations. TSJ outperformed expectations. Domask outperformed expectations. Hawkins outperformed expectations. I'm sure there are more but that, though by itself, is outstanding track record for a period of 4-5 years.
Everybody is forgetting about Morez Johnson he is going to be our starting center next yearIndy said this:
If I had to guess our 13 for next year ...
Guards:
Boswell, Maddox, Buck, DGL
Wings:
Storr, JD, Tre, Goode, Ty
Bigs:
Booth, Rez, Amani, Jakstys
So I am assuming Moretti transfers and Domask doesn't get a waiver. If he happens to get a waiver, who is the odd man out?
