He'll be 21 at the beginning of next season and has been a semi-regular starter against grown men for two years (he was the more experienced and developed Ivicic Twin when Zvonimir left for UK).

Definitely some question marks of translation, but there isn't really precedent for that kind of player coming to college basketball, why would they? He probably hasn't been inside of a classroom in two years, not sure how that all works.
I think you are leaving out two important draws now for Euro players to come play in college
1) NIL$$- yes I know they aren’t technically allowed to collect NIL if they are on a student visa - but it sounds like they have been able to get around this- I dont know what TI is making but the average salary in Spain is a few hundred K, he’s not a star there by any means so I assume we can give him a considerable raise, this just hasn’t been true in the past, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more influx from Europe- if colleges are giving freshman $1.5M now, euro players will take notice
2) showcase his skills - he’s not a star in Spain but he would be able to be much more dominant in the college game and likely help his draft stock

So the best realistic scenario here is Tomislav, Demin, star wing, and Coleman? And if the likely plays out and Coleman doesn't come back (highly would be surprised if he doesn't keep his name in the draft tbh) then maybe use one of those scholarships on a shifty, shot creating combo guard? That about right?

If he came to Illinois and that is a BIG IF as I see no connection to him with this 7 footer (Ivisic) everyone is convinced is the guy or anyone on our staff so I fail to see how it’s a package deal. But if we were so fortunate to land him he would fill MD’S role and be more of a point forward per se not a point guard. He looks awesome on film, like a slightly smaller version of Cooper Flagg.
The folks that gave the board the info on BU in Belgrade looking for two potential targets did not mention anything about package deal. If that was said, then it wasn't from "the source(s)." People have been talking about them in the same breath because they were met with on the same European trip. It is only natural.

If we are able to get T Ivisic it would be awesome. But I'm not quite convinced it's him that we're targetting, yet, though. I'll have to look and try to find the post, but I thought an insider commented that he thought Brad was smart for looking for a big overseas because front court players have been very expensive in the portal this year - to me this implies that this big is a bit more of a "bargain" than I would imagine Ivisic would be.

But boy would I love it if it turns out I'm wrong!

Is there other info out there that makes people think it could be Ivisic? I guess someone did mention that maybe he followed Tyler Underwood on instagram? Is that right? Would be something, I guess...

I think you're wrong...tea leaves pointing to Ivisic

Tomislav Ivisic plays in the pan-Balkan league, not Spain, for clarity.

Tons of talent and not a lot of money in that league. There's arbitrage goldmine there for an NIL collective if it can be tapped.

I thought it was MSU that the Christie family doesn't like, they don't like us either?
I think something happened because they're both from Rolling Meadows and the fact that Cam went to Minnesota instead of Illinois or MSU probably says something.

Though probably the right call because he likely wouldn't have gotten nearly as many shots or played as much at Illinois.

Honestly guys like Cam Christie that are fringe top 100 prospects are probably better off going to places where they can play immediately whether that's a worse major school or a mid major.

Gives them a chance to develop in games and showcase themselves for a big NIL payday in year 2.

I am not judging one way or another. I just want us to win. I trust in Brad I do but I just feel we have missed out on to many alphas and a chance to build upon an elite 8 run. hope I am wrong.
Would we rather have previous coaches figuring this out or Brad and Co?? CONTINUE to MAKE ILLINOIS BASKETBALL GREAT!! CMIBG!! GO BRAD!!

So there are two teams in the top Balkan league from Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, that play in the same arena (rivals, you'd imagine).

Tomislav Ivicic plays for one of them. Guess who currently plays for the other?

Who?

Thanks for the link. From the description in the link it also seems like he is a true 5 and not another tall stretch 4. That would bode well if CH does consider returning.

Draft Notes

The twin brother of Kentucky star Zvonimir, Tomislav is a bit heavy and not as smooth of a mover but has a great size and strength and a nice skill level.

He’s got good hands, catches everything, secures rebounds well and has a soft touch around the basket. Shoots a high percentage from the field and is a very good FT shooter as well.

He uses his size and weight well to control the paint. Holds his ground well and is an intimidator on defense.

He projects as a possible second round pick to un-drafted player.
