Kind of an interesting question because Demin isn't exactly a 2 himself.

Does Boswell, Ty, Demin, Humidifier and Ivisic work as a starting lineup?

Plenty of shooting but would that group be able to guard anybody?
No it doesn't work. Tre has to be a starting wing. Ty early off the bench. And I get so tired of hearing the questions about somebody's defense. Why even bring that up? Of course they can guard people. BU is our head coach don't forget.

Won't be long until the NBA sees college teams as a 'G' league. They draft players that need development then send them down to an affiliated college team, along with a big bag of cash and a contract allowing the player to be recalled to the NBA team at any time.

Fair question. Boswell and Ty can guard, and I think Ivisic seems solid on that end. Humrichous probably not great, have no idea about Demin.

Things could change, but some of our insiders have said it'd be a shock if Tre White isn't starting. I'd probably put him at the 3/4 alongside Brickhouse and Ivisic. Of course, that kinda means we'd need an excellent outside shooter at the wing.

What are backup options for Demin, Richmond, Lanier, and Poplar that anyone likes?

Hopefully doesnt come to missing on one of those guys, but i think there could still be some decent options like Kaluma (No idea who is recruiting him or how great he'd fit/how high his NIL ask is), Jaxson Robinson, or Miles Kelly..

Didn't see we are rumored with either Robinson or Kelly on the interest list.
For more wing types, Kaluma seems like a better playmaker than Robinson but Robinson seems to be a slightly better shooter. 🤷‍♂️

Kelly looks to have some bad numbers but watching some film, I think he definitely has some upside and has played against quality competition (maybe his #'s improve with more talent around him rather than a bad GT team?) He Looks like he has ball handling ability and more of a guard makeup than small forward and off first glance, looks like his 32% 3p% last year on 7 attempts could have been from forcing shots

The Big Tee pictured is located in Casey, Illinois, hence the reference to AJ Casey
Hah. My initial impression was of a steam locomotive stack, then I realized it was a big T.

So then later I thought the AJ Casey reference was to Casey Jones...

pass. If we are fortunate enough to land Denim, all these "wing" questions go away. In addition to him, we will have Tre, Davis and Ty. Watch that fight for PT!

Richmond is likely landing at St. John's as well, been that way for a while. If they got a kid from college that's not Demin I think it would be someone not named Richmond.
That being said, I think there is a better than 50% chance we get Demin right now
WOW! Brad OA and Geof are en fuego. 🔥 🔥🔥

But can he play defense and pass like Coleman? The freshman Coleman did not play much. the sophomore Coleman was on a team that did not have any other size beside Kofi. Our team is at higher level now. If Booth does not show aggressive and high energy he will be on the bench. We are not a basement dweller like ND.

2 years at Illinois then NBA lottery pick. If he only plans to stay one year then my vote is for an SR or Grad trasnfer upperclassman shooting guard from USA. Rest of roster is filled out so they know then will be joining a reloaded elite 8 team!

Demin is by far the preferred wing. Kadary Richmond is more of a combo-guard and not a very good shooter.
If that is how the staff feels, consider me surprised - Kadary is by far the better college basketball player right now and you are only getting either of them for one year. Yes, Kadary only shot 27% from three this year on low volume but shot 44% last year, and is an 80% free throw shooter - I wouldn't call him a "bad" shooter

And Kadary does everything on the court - 15pts. 7 rebounds , 5 assists, 2.2 steals , 80% free throw shooter and gets to the line at a high clip - he would be a huge difference maker - we already have good three point shooters, in Humming Bird, Boswell and Ivisic, DGL - getting a playmaker that can drive, get to the rim and finish seems to be the skill set we are missing and Kadary brings that in spades. It sounds like it St. Johns for him anyway, but he would have been the best get IMHO

If the kid is willing and able to guard, then yeah, I'd say he'd be one of our Top 3 scoring options. Kid has game. No idea how he is on that end because the highlights don't really show much of that except for the rim protecting big men, but if he's willing to put in the work there I'd salivate at the thought of him along with Boswell in our backcourt. It's the stuff dreams are made of.
