Leaving 2 open and redshirting Jaksty is bad roster management.

I believe for some people it's more about the narrative that was pushed so hard. " We have sooo much NIL" .. we do but not as much as other schools are willing to deal. "We are going for sure going to get Storr" I understand we were supposed to, but their are no certainties anymore as was being portrayed ( kinda glad we didn't get him anyway). "Maddox is a secured, and is a guy Underwood really wants" again a "done deal" and probably could have been if we decided to give him the bag , but got outbid this is more frustrating than missing on Storr bc I think we could have paid to get him), "David Jones is a lock if he doesn't go to the NBA" but wasn't...
I have no doubt we will be a good team if not a great team and I do like most of the pieces we got, but this off-season definitely is not the picture we were told it was absolutely going to be... And that's where I think some people got pessimistic rather than appreciating our staffs ability to pivot.
I'm also not going to rule out the slight possibility that we fly off the rails next season but it's highly doubtful.

I disagree. 10 is more than enough, and you wouldn't want to dilute the talent of your best guys to save resources for those extra spots.

13 scholarships just kinda doesn't make sense for the direction of where the sport is going.

It's a delicate balance and for me we're one Denzel away (a Russian Denzel, a Manchurian Candidate perhaps?) from striking it pretty perfectly.

Illinois basketball just needs to land the one big player all the insiders say is a lock and we're on easy street? That never happens! What could possibly go wrong?

Where can I find this quarter zip (and/or the white one)? These are great.

I'm pretty sure that's Johnnie-O ... Can't find an exact match to the one Brad is wearing that is available to the public ... But here's what's available to the public ...

Bonus points for the Manchurian Candidate work-in.

I agree with this. You can't expect to fill the end of your bench in the portal because everyone wants playing time and money. Teams like us may be able to take another freshman development (obviously playing time and money would have to be less of a concern ala DGL). Jase Butler would have still fit really well here as a developmental piece if he was willing to grind it out. Next year will be interesting because some of the portal madness should go away since all the COVID guys are gone. Brad has set us up pretty well because we won't have the need to replace an entire next year roster due them all aging out. Obviously, they could all still want to leave, but I at least have hopes of some continuity going forward.

could be CT bias but I would rather see Coleman in the best position possible for him after all he's done for the program the last 4 years. He's an Illini for life regardless and his jersey should be in the rafters

Completely agree that he deserves to go to the best position possible (hopefully NBA). This is really minor, but if he plays 1 more year of college and then goes to the NBA, it would bum me out so hard that his "School:" listed would not be Illinois.

I would absolutely root for Coleman no matter where he ended up...........

That being said ;) , if he comes back to college, and someone related to our program doesn't toss a huge bag at him that he can't refuse, I'll be very disappointed.

Yall are overhyping Egor so much man. I hope he’s good enough to start but some of the expectations you’re putting on him are just crazy. The last Big10 freshman guard to average over 14 ppg was DeAngelo Russell
