So…. according a Belarusian I know who speaks fluent Russian, Egor Demin likely pronounces his name yeh-GORE D’YO-mihn. She says there’s actually a slight “z” sound between the D and the Y in the last name pronunciation, but it makes no sense really looking at it in an English translation. It would be Dz’YO-mihn if you can get your mouth to actually make that sound.

how long will it take for some QB or stud hoops player to become the highest paid person in the university or state ?

I’m all for players having “freedom” to move and getting NIL, but this is just WAY different than I ever imagined 3 years ago

pretty much all players NOT drafted in first round can make more money staying in college than in the pros
When the whole NIL thing got started (and don't misunderstand, I am all for players getting paid their due) I was under the impression that players would do auto dealer ads and such things like that and would get, oh, $10-20,000 for those ads, which, if it was a star player might add up to $100,000. In fact, I thought that the money they made would be predicated on that kind of situation instead of having donors dropping millions into a big pot and then coaches doling it out. That is, if player A did an auto dealer commercial he would get whatever such things like that pay. Now some of these players are getting more than most CBB coaches. I guess I was just plain naive. I am not saying that it shouldn't be like that but it just seems pretty wild to me. Do players who make so much money still get a free education (scholarships)? They certainly have more money than my parents had, but my parents made enough that I was not able to get any financial aid (if I remember correctly, it was a long time ago).
By the way, I like to point this out, that my cousin was the Federal judge who ruled against the NCAA in the O'Bannon case that got this all started. She asked me for advice on the ruling (just kidding, she is one of the smartest people I know and certainly did not need advice from a dimwil like me).

Someone mentioned Coward a couple days ago and I jumped on the band wagon.
Sounds like he is Washongton St. to lose if he drops out of draft. His former coach at EWU and former teammates are there.

Crazy how talented players coming from small programs then to mid majors are now high major recruits. Coward looks like a pro, I would put him at the top of my list. Seems to be able to play some point as well as SG/SF.
The way I read it, Coward would be too afraid to step up a level in competition.

this sounds made up, Russian isn't even a real language. Stalin lost it in a card game with Churchill in WW 2.

In cyrillic his name would be written as Егор Дёмин. The letter ё (yo), is often written as е (ye) for simplicity. Plus on a Russian keyboard it is on the upper left corner, farther than q on a qwerty keyboard. This is why Russian names with yo are often translated into English as ye. (Gorbachev instead of Gorbachov for example)

The plan as of now is to add 1 more ... Unless something crazy happens and it's an opportunity Brad can't pass up ...

Everyone - i know that a lot of you Guys will be asking me whO that one may be but Really ... you should just be patient and let them finish cooking ... the meal will be Delightful, Exceptional, Magnificent, Impactful, and Noteworthy ...

I do think if Nico wanted to come back ... They would do it ... They would be less hesitant to do it if it would push them to 13 though ... Brad wants one open ...

Here's my favorite Belarusian with the audio recording. She normally rolls her eyes when I talk Illini basketball, but was happy to drop an assist on this one. :D

The Belarusian confirmed to me that you are 100% correct.

The players are the ones people buy tickets and tune in to see. They have deserved their piece of the pie for a long time. I'm not unhappy that they're getting their fair share.

I would absolutely root for Coleman no matter where he ended up...........

That being said ;) , if he comes back to college, and someone related to our program doesn't toss a huge bag at him that he can't refuse, I'll be very disappointed.
The insiders have said a few times that there's a massive donor that would take care of him. Believe in the process!

With this roster construction, CoachBrad is basically a NBA coach. Size, speed, and transition every game. Run waves of players at opposing teams. New rule, 1st team to 100 wins! 😆 🤣

What a disaster that would have been. BW wouldn’t have lasted 4 yrs in this environment.
It would have been legal to pay players he could have done ok. But I agree the 05 team wouldn’t have stayed. Developing a team over 4 years and have balance classes are done. Teams that rely on a system are probably over

BW I don’t think would like coaching players for just one year.

But Izzo Coach K Roy Williams Wooden would also would not have liked to coach under these rules. Knowing a player can leave you after a season has to change how you approach the team
