I'll take a stab at this. Not to denigrate anyone, but simply to put some perspective on our classes. Ultimately, losing records means you're short on talent, which is where we've been.
Here's our last 3 class rankings, within the conference, by 247 composite.
2019 - 10th (based on Kofi, Kouma, and BBV). We're losing Kouma and getting a couple transfers.
2018 - 5th (huge 7 man class. Higgs and Kane are gone). Ayo will be gone after this season.
2017 - 2nd (based on a 5 man class of Mark Smith, Matic, Spicy, DMW, and Trent). 2 remain.
I'm thrilled if we get players who go pro, but it means you have to refill the cupboard much faster.
Like most, I don't care who we recruit if it brings us back to the top-25 and puts in the dance regularly. On paper, we have a pretty mixed bag. I certainly don't believe we've recruited better than Michigan, MSU, Maryland, tOSU, Indiana, or Purdue.
