MSU is Good

Illinois has played a lot of forgettable games at Memorial Stadium throughout the years. You really don't have to go back that far in the record book to find the bad ones, just think of those contests from the past 2-3 years when you hit the exits in the middle of the 4th and grumbled, That has to have been the most thorough destruction of an Illini team in Memorial Stadium history.

Which brings us to Saturday's contest, because Michigan State's 61-14 lashing was indeed (on paper) the most thorough domination of an Illinois football team in Memorial Stadium history. Records were set for points against (61) and total yards by any team (705 - which is #3 all-time in Big Ten games). The Spartan's 9 yards per play average—while not an official record—was most certainly a record and will never be bested. What else. Ah yes. QB Drew Stanton threw for a school record 5 TD passes.
