Spring Game festivities highlights: Mike White-Era Illini reunion; David Diehl donates to facility upgrade

MIKE WHITE REUNION: Over 100 players who competed under Coach Mike White from 1980-87 will return to campus to reunite with their teammates and coaches to celebrate the success from that era. Under White, the Illini won 47 games, won the Big Ten title in 1983 and played in three bowl games, including the 1984 Rose Bowl. Fans who wish to meet, get autographs and photos with those former Illini can do so in the Great West Hall on Sat., April 25 from Noon-1 p.m. prior to the start of the Orange and Blue Spring Game.

DAVID DIEHL RIBBON CUTTING: Illinois alum and current New York Giant offensive tackle David Diehl will be honored in a ceremony on Friday at 6 p.m. in the new Football Personal Performance Center under the North End Zone of Memorial Stadium for his $300,000 donation to the facility's upgrade. His funds allowed for the purchase of over 75,000 pounds of equipment for the strength and conditioning program.

LETTERWINNER REUNION: In addition to the 100-plus players returning from the Mike White era, another 150 letterwinners have RSVP'ed to be a part of the weekend's activities. The reunion Bar-B-Que will take place on Friday evening in the Great West Hall from 6:30-8 p.m. Only invited guests are asked to attend.

SPRING GAME DETAILS: All seating for the game will be on the West side of the stadium with the gates opening at Noon. General public can enter Memorial Stadium through gates 20, 22 and 24, while premium seating will be open to those members through gates 16 and 20. Free parking for the spring game will be in the Assembly Hall lots as well as E-14, located directly west of the Assembly Hall.
