Special teams will get special consideration

"We have enough talent now that if guys don't want to put out on special teams, they get their offensive and defensive reps cut,'' Zook said. "It has to help us win a couple games. It can't lose games for us.''

That means everybody but perhaps the starting quarterback. Wide receiver Arrelious Benn will return kicks and also lines up on punt coverage.

"I've got to go get the ball carrier," Benn said. "I'm excited about it. I want to get some tackles. Coach Zook is a big special teams guy. Football is based around (the fundamentals on) special teams. Special teams is something where we can win games.''
