Steve Sarkisian files wrongful-termination lawsuit against USC

The complaint asks for at least $12.6 million in damages, but Sarkisian's attorney told TMZ.com that he will seek more than $30 million.

For those of you who know about this kind of thing (i.e. lawyers). Does Sark have a case? And are we still waiting on Beckman to file one of these?

Yeah, I totally agree with this. The Claeys extension was odd on several levels, Ash and Durkin seem like they'll be trapped trying to beat Meyer Harbaugh and Dantonio at their own game, and obviously the less said about the Cubit thing the better.

The Big Ten will reward the first mover on someone willing to think differently. I hope it's us.

I agree. I would like to see Ken N., but also realize there might be 10 players (guessing) on the roster suited for his offense. He really isn't a realistic option just because of that alone.

Lets wait and make this decision once we're through the storm. God knows what our roster looks like a year from now. I agree that it's perfect for a Baylor spread right NOW.

I can't find Babers' contract details, but there are comments putting it in the range of 5-6 years at $2MM per.

That's a pretty long contract for an interim to sell through, so we probably would've lost to Syracuse anyway.

Babers accomplished more in his 2 years at BGSU than Cubit has in his entire career. He had a chance to make a good statement with next year's team to get some recruiting going before we fall off the cliff in 2017. Too bad.

We'll just start over from the basement in 2017 like we always do with new coaches:

Ron Turner (1997): 0-11
Ron Zook (2005): 2-9
Tim Beckman (2010): 2-10

That is a shame. Babers was absolutely worth taking a risk on. What more did the guy need to do to prove himself to us?

And these are the guys we are retaining. So we are going to have 3 years of Beckman, 2 years of Cubit, a few lame-duck years of Ron Zook.....can anyone name a worse coaching tree than U of I in the last 7 years?

Babers' offense indoors at Syracuse will be explosive. Better than in the BIG when the wind kicks up in late autumn.

I don't think Beckman was as bad of a coach as people on this board make him out to be. Bad human being? Maybe. Bad coach? Not really.

It's his recruiting that has us set up to have a really good season next year (for Illinois standards). He built the program better than what Zook did, IMO.

I just came to the realization that we're paying Mike Thomas more to go away than it would cost to pay Dino Babers to coach next season. And that doesn't even factor in the Cubit contract mess.

Pure administrative incompetence, simple as that. It's really hard to believe.

:thumb: I completely agree with you. Beckman was building the program through developing a foundation first. Most people on here, and most fans in general, are not patient enough to allow that approach to take place, even though that is probably the best way to build long-term success. It is what we have seen happen at Wisconsin, Northwestern and Michigan State.
