At this point, this is not happening. His high school coach has already said he remains committed to UGA and will stay that way until he gets a chance to meet with the new coach. Kirby could screw it up, but that remains to be seen. The FL visit is just a backup plan for now. To say that Jacob and dad are pissed is simply not true.

There's a good chance it will happen. Eason to Florida is looking more and more likely

Looks like my guy was right. The Eason visit to FL was a "just in case" kind of thing until they saw who the new coach was. They met with Kirby and were happy with what they heard.

Looks like Sumlin might be on his way out at A&M.

If this is over the two QB'S tranferring/leaving the team, that isn't likely to happen. The dad of one of those saw how much more money there is in professional baseball and the kid is supposedly a stud MIF. At least that's what I heard on a sport talk station yesterday morning. This person also thought that Sumlin would be headed to the NFL soon though.

You were right. Good job on that. Although, I do wonder if Grier announced his transfer 1.5 weeks before, would Eason be going to Florida instead of Georgia? Eason would basically be a lock to start at Florida over Harris.

There are rumors that he isn't well liked by donors, and he has Sarkesian type problem. That he loves his drinking, and he had to be carried back to a hotel room after a game. Supposedly that is on video somewhere, too. Again, take that with a grain of salt cause I have no idea if it is indeed true.

Yeah, he hasn't ingratiated himself to the higher ups at the University. Also some rumors that the players aren't very happy with him either. Could be a convergence of several issues. No guarantee he gets canned, but the Chancellor is supposedly trying to rally donors to oust him.

USA Today: Grading the hires on college football's coaching carousel
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...e-football-coaching-carousel-grades/77628580/

The very last grade
F

Illinois — Bill Cubit

The Illini administration had an entire season to figure out what it wanted to do with its coaching search. Instead it punted, elevating Cubit from interim coach on a three-year deal and leaving the big decisions to its next president and athletics director.

All this accomplished was kicking the can down the road and probably putting Illinois in an even deeper hole for the next guy to climb out of.

I mean it is all well and good to jump on the hype train to garbage town, and obviously USA Today is doing just that, but it really is difficult to take that "ranking" seriously when the article doesn't even get the length of the deal correct! A part of the outrage that fans and others have about this signing is the length of his contract, and to get that wrong is incredibly bad reporting and leads me to feel like USA Today is just piling on what has already been said. /Rant.

Maybe they were including this year in the 3 years.

I will say when we hired Beckman, ESPN rated it the second best hire of the year. So take these polls for what they're worth. I'm sure some of their grade A hires won't work at all, and some of the lower rated hires will work out better than anyone expects. The true grade for Illinois at this point should be incomplete.

Any buzz about Jeff Brohm leaving WKU? His team looks pretty darn good today and had a very good year with only losses coming at Indiana and at LSU.

Personally I really hope he's still around next december

I believe all the coaching hires are complete. Therefore, unless someone is fired after a bowl game or an NFL team comes calling and causes another turn of the carousel, Jeff Brohm is not going anywhere. As far as I know the only position he actually interviewed for was Virginia as well.

I would love nothing more than to see our open Linebackers coaching job be filled by John Holecek...

I don't see that ever actually happening, but a man can dream right?

SIUC plans to name Nick Hill head coach as soon as tomorrow. I have a lot of memories of watching him play quarterback for Du Quoin.

So...early names for next year's carousel (since we all assume Cubit is gone after next season)?

Brohm
Schiano
D.J. Durkin
Matt Rhule
Fleck
Possibly Strong and Sumlin if both don't work out

I'm pretty sure Durkin will not be in the picture after one year at Maryland.
