Depends if you define basketball positions by what position a person plays, or what position a person is best suited to play.
If we go with the former, then we have had plenty of point guards over the last 5 years. :D

That does not make him a C either, and unfortunately did not make Hill a PF in previous years... :)

This is right. He is a forward who happens to be guarding the opposing teams center based out of necessity.

Froling looks good to me. 17 years old, 6'10" 230 lbs.

To be that young and tall and coordinated and skilled is impressive. Admittedly, he looks to be a bit slow, but at that age a lot of tall people are slow. Give him a few years to grow into his body and train in our program and he has the potential to become a really good player.

Adding him to Lucas and Nichols would be a dream class for us. That would give us our PG, big wing, and skilled big body. Just what our team and program need.

I don't think they ever referred to Augustine as a center when showing the starters before tipoff. They would show us starting three guards and two forwards. James was still the 5 numerically but was a forward who could guard centers.

This. This would be a great class and getting us back to stacking recruiting classes of young talented people. Someone mentioned earlier that this could be a glue class and while I somewhat agree with that, I also think we will get immediate impact from TJL and KN. I should clarify, immediate impact from KN when he becomes eligible.

I know he had to do it, but I will always wonder how Groce's revved up recruitment of Brunson impacted on Evans' decision to go elsewhere. It just seems that everyone was proclaiming us the leader for Evans, and then we got back into the Brunson recruitment, and the next thing you know we lost Evans as well.

I'm with you, but I seem to recall some on this board saying that really did not matter. Not saying anything nefarious, but other things involved???

Evans is producing much more than Brunson this year. Brunson obviously on a better team though.

This was a manufactured narrative created here.

Juwan Evans

The first minute of watching Evans I knew he would of been the better selection at PG than Brunson or any other guard we have recruited in the Groce era. The best comparison I can come up with is Chris Paul. Evans is so fluid and a true point guard with passing, dribbling, penetrating, and shooting skills.

I watched the first 10 minutes of the game and was blown away at how good and grounded Evans game is. No knock against Brunson, but Evans has the atleticism and game to play pro ball, possibly even start for a team. He will be all NCAA next year and possibly gone after two seasons.

Once again, no knock against Demetrius Jackson, Q Snyder, Brunson, Glynn Watson; Evans is better and I would of said this even if he had scored 15 points in yesterdays game. His superior game is evident immediately.

To add Evans and his athleticism/speed with Nunn with of made a tremendous backcourt. Add those two to Hill, Thorn, and Finke (or Black, or Paul) and I believe we are in the top 10-15 range. Possibly higher.

TJL was nominated to the McDonald's AA game. You can check his instagram for a copy of the nomination. @sauce_king414

He might not be selected, but he was nominated.

Did they change it from previous years where anyone can be nominated? It was stated before that he was the only player nominated from Wisconsin. If they changed it to only players with a reasonable shot, that could mean something.

I don't think Froling is a center. He's a Finke type power forward, imo. In the videos, he looks way more athletic than Morgan, too.

I would agree. I didn't think he looked slow of foot at all. He often brought the ball up the court and was right with the rest of his teammates. He also made several drop-step and up and under moves that require footwork. He may not be a quick leader, or an elite "athlete", but he looked at least average for Big Ten centers, to me. Also, using good technique and basketball IQ lets you perform beyond what your pure physical gifts would allow, and I would content Froling shows well in the technique and IQ areas.

Whatever Froling is or isn't, we could do a helluva lot worse than Finke-Froling as our starting bigs.

I don't know if we'll get Froling, and we could obviously do a lot worse. But he is not a rim protector. We'll definitely be in an outscore the opposition approach if that's the case. Although Black shows some potential defensively.

Well, found this on Twitter .......2016 Harry Froling is on his visit. It's between Arizona and SMU with Arizona leading

Froling is projected to be a 7 footer. His twin sisters are 6'2" and his Dad 6'7" and Mom 6/0". Both parents played professionally in Australia. He's only 17 years old.

I saw that and it is clearly an Arizona oriented account. That said, it is likely correct. SMU has the sisters and Zona has the weather, recent success and reputation and NBA alums.
