Henricksen has Pickett at 6' 4" and growing. It would be nice, and quite helpful to the kid, if he can reach 6' 6" or so. More positional versatility. As it is, he'll have a couple of excellent shooters (JCL & AJ) ahead of him. Not afraid of competition. Have to like it.

I think he will probably end up as more of a SF. I think it would be possible for him to play alongside a guy like Goodwin.

In an ideal world a class of Williams/Goodwin/Pickett/Smith/Tilmon would happen. I think Smith is up around 6'6 or 6'7 now.

That would definitely be a top 5 class.

Yeah, it would be a hell of a class. As I said, IDEAL WORLD. Highly unlikely, but certainly not impossible. Tilmon, Goodwin and Pickett are all friends. I think DaMonte is also friends with Tilmon. So there could be the much-heralded DOMINO EFFECT.

We are going to have a team with a bunch of wings, especially if we land Goodwin. Right now we have Pickett, Kipper Nichols, AJ, JCL, and DJ. I'm not a fan of playing WF in the PF spot. I like the way Finke plays the stretch 4 because he is big enough to play the college level PF. I predict we will see more these wings playing the 4 position as well, Flying Illini style.

Williams will need to play and develop into a PG. We won't need another SG, and possible look into one of these players (JCL) developing into a back-up PG.

It's evident that PG for '017 is in the plans since Groce was in to see Scruggs last week and Ford went to FLA to see Trent Frazier. Williams is not a PG and may never be.

That's what these kids like to do now-a-days. We have room for all of em.

Pickett looks like another Roosevelt Jones to me.

Anyone who's followed Metro-East hoops for a long time knows these St. Clair County kids are tough. I expect Pickett to be the same.

Jones was more physically advanced in high school than Pickett is. He bullied himself to the rim all game long, where I see Pickett as more skilled and lanky. Happy to have him on board though!

From Derek Pipers tweeter account...

Asked Jeremiah Tilmon his thoughts on new #Illini commit @JavonPickett.

"I think it was a great move for my guy. He's the next big thing."

MCDAA rosters announced.

UK: 4 players
Duke: 2
MSU: 2
UCLA: 2

There's still a fair amount of uncommitted players in this game.

Goodwin is the Jones clone. Pickett has more bounce and not as physical.

When Lucas' team comes to play champaign centennial, are there any more games that day or is that the only one? Also is centennial any good this year?

To me this quite does not sound positive for the Illini whatsoever. It reads as "They aren't getting me but he's pretty good"

Disagree completely. All top prospects are going to be coy until they are ready to end their recruitment.

The Pickett commitment is huge, as not only do we pick up a solid player, it absolutely improves our chances of getting Goodwin and Tilmon.

Why is the Pickett thread locked? Nice to celebrate his commit from everything else going on here the past couple days.

I'm sitting here watching the East st Louis vs Belleville east game. JP is very impressive.

But the main reason for this post is the announcer.....LMAO!!!! He is beyond ridiculous. To his credit he says he "the most biased broadcaster in the history of charter communication ". But I had to turn the volume down. Anything against ESL is a bad call and anything for them is an excellent call. It was funny at first but became unbearable and very unprofessional.

That's all
