To find a positive, it was nice to see Finke knock down a couple of shots late. Maybe that will help get him out of his funk.
Finke clearly has regressed the last month.

TV Ted is the bane of my existence.
Finke clearly has regressed the last month.
He is the only ref with that status for me. Just drives me crazy
The Freshman overall as a group graded out rather poorly last night.

Someone needs to get in that kid's ear and explain to him how good he is. He does not play with confidence.
I couldn't agree with you more. For whatever reason, he seems incredibly timid out there. He was also one of the major reasons we lost the lead yesterday. We were up 11 and he missed 2 free throws. Then, a couple of minutes later he faked a 3 from the corner and started driving to the basket. Had he continued to go strong, he had a clear path for a dunk. However, as he approached the basket, he slowed down for an unknown reason and wound up just throwing the ball away. In the first half, he also had the ball right under the basket but seemed hesitant to just take the ball up strong and score or get fouled. Instead, he inexplicably looked for help and threw it away.
They had a defender glued to jcl everywhere he went. I watched him quite a bit on offense trying to get open off screens and he just couldn't shake free. You could tell part of their plan was to not let him get going from deep.
Yeah, it looked like Wisconsin assigned Showalter to guard him, I believe he's their best perimeter defender.
No excuse to blow a 13-point lead. None.
Officiating was not the reason the team lost. Was officiating good when Illinois had the lead? Admit the team played a terrible second half and quit blaming the officials for the teams terrible play.
Yeah. I don't know if its lingering effects from the injury, or if he's just hitting the wall from the amount of minutes he's playing in his first season, but it's a been noticeably different level of play.
Probably a combination of both
What bothered me most about the game was I think we had more talent on the floor than Wisky. We keep talking about the guys we're missing, but those guys aren't our most talented.
Yes, Happ and Hayes are good, but who else is that good? Do they have guys who are that much better than KN, MH, JCL, and DJW (who is coming along well)?
Even though Happ is better, MM has been pretty good this year, and Finke, when he's not being Funke, is a talented guy. We have talent, and a less talented team beat us...again.
Not enough warm bodies.
Anyone remember Bob Blackman going off on the refs on his Sunday morning tv show after the Michigan game in '74? Was hilarious.

Would that happen to be the game where Mike Gow ran back a punt return for a touchdown that would have given us the lead, or at least brought us closer to the lead, and some referee called an invisible foul to bring the ball back and negate the touchdown?
I remember that like it was yesterday, sitting with the Marching Illini. Ah yes, the year of the streaker!!
