1. We won the first half. They won the second half. Basically, it was a draw. We did not cover the spread, however.
2. Yeah, it is about recruiting. You put Yogi Ferrell on our team, and we beat Indiana in this game. One player really can make a difference. To steal a quote from Loren Tate, with Yogi and four chem majors, you have a pretty good offense. (Loren actually made that statement about Craig Tucker, but it's really true about Yogi.)
3. In all seriousness, we actually did play very hard in the first half. It wasn't real pretty, but we played well. In the second half, it was like we just stopped playing by and large. It was ugly.
4. OK, JCL did play well. In the first half it meant something. In the second half, it was all we had even if it didn't mean anything.
5. Malcolm Hill had a totally forgettable game. I guess even Super Man needs a game off now and then.
6. There wasn't much else. Kendrick Nunn had a few nice plays, but overall he wasn't much of a factor. Mav had a few moments, but Finke seems to have hit quite a wall.
7. We got outrebounded 36 to 14. There's nothin' more to say. 36 to 14.
8. OK, I am going to beyotch about the refs. Those clowns out there tonight were ridiculously incompetent. Make up your damn minds about whether you are going to call fouls according to the directive or not. Guys for both sides were getting mauled on drives with no call, and then for a stretch it was touch foul time. At least we got in the required number of moving screen calls. I guess that's all the consistency we can hope for.
9. Well, maybe we can beat Minny. Other than that, it doesn't look so good the rest of the way.
Go Illini!
