OC McGee

People talk about what he did with Ryan Mallet down in Arkansas but even Northwestern's CJ Bacher had the best season and best game in NU history in terms of passing yards.

So we have so far confirmed
McGee as OC/QB Coach
Hayes-Stoker WR Coach
Butkus OL Coach
Phair DL Coach
Is this correct and am I missing anyone?

Anxious to see if McGee can help Wes to reach his full potential that we've seen flashes of. Imagine an effective Lunt with a stable of receivers that can catch the ball. It would be like... "The Razorbacks ranked first in the SEC and 13th nationally in passing offense (300.7 yards per game) and were first in the league and 15th in the country in scoring offense (36.7 points per game)." Oh, I just wet myself.

This hire tells us that Lovie wasn't afraid to snag a great coach from another team! Who is the best possible option for our defensive coordinator?

That type of relationship is something that is under-valued. The ability to not just get along between staff members, but to trust and like each other. With the history they have you know that they will be able to effectively communicate with one another. Relationships matter, and having a coaching staff that is as much on the same page as possible is big. Plus, it's not like McGee is a scrub. He is good at what he does.

Exactly. I don't think he's gonna be going anywhere soon either.

Ha. I remember roads being jammed in all directions in the 1980s as 76,000 plus came for every home game.

I want that again. Never thought I'd miss traffic.

Jeremey Werner on Twitter:

Backup OC targets for Lovie I'm told were Mike Sherman and Pep Hamilton ... Yes, backups ... for #illini football.

I guess that I will have to take the back roads from Chicago to Champaign to avoid all the traffic. :thumb:

This is all too much, I feel like the nut punch is coming any minute....

I know it's not, but I can't shake the feeling, I've been conditioned.

The anti-sports academic snobs in the university must be biting the stems of their pipes in half and calling emergency meetings over their lattes. This sort of excitement over a barbaric "game" must be quelled and the perpetrators punished! LOL.

Fun times to be an Illini fan. There are some high quality high schoolers that are sitting up and taking notice all of a sudden too.

All hail JFW!

We all know the feeling. It's going to be tough to shake.

#impressed ,this is epic gotta love it , listening to sports radio in Nebraska has just gotten fun. They're being negative about the lovie hiring that means we are relevant again. Go illovie !

I feel like the basketball team needs to lose to a completely undermanned and outclassed minny team this afternoon to offset whatever this feeling is that I'm feeling...

Oh don't worry, we will. If not, we'll lose tomorrow. That just means football starts that much sooner!
