That class would be Top 10 not Top 5 unless someone dramatically increased their ranking this summer during AAU.

Goodwin, Lewis, and Pickett are all underrated.

I like and want all these players but honestly the "our recruits are all underrated" gets a little tiring. I get it. It's easy to think that way when these are the only players we are paying attention to. The class will end up where it ends up.

I'd be interested to see how playing primarily at point would effect DMW's ranking since he might not be able to showcase all of his skills at Manuel.

Goodwin is indeed underrated in rankings because he doesn't have a high ceiling as a pro prospect without changing positions. He'll be as highly ranked as you can be for a 4 year player. As for Pickett, we'll see. A lot of the recruits we've sought have improved their rankings quite a bit, so it wouldn't be surprising at all if the committed guys improve their rank as well. I would bet money on Goodwin, Lewis and Pickett's rank going up. This board does have a terrible habit of hyping up recruits though.. in this case, I think it's actually fair.

Goodwin's stock is going up, no question. Bossi said he's as competitive of a player there is, and he loves him. He is going to be a top 50 recruit. Pickett is a scorer, and will move up but not top 100. Lewis, I don't know enough about, but I would guess he stays around 85-100.

Just out of curiosity, how long after the high school season ends til this season's highlight videos come out usually? I was jonesing for some new material to watch but nothing much recent on our guys.
Same here, really want to see one for Pickett

Hopefully his sources are good:

Well-connected source tells me there's good reason for #Illini basketball fans to feel optimistic about Jeremiah Tilmon.

I don't really want to feel optimistic.
I'm tired of optimistic
I want to feel euphoric :illinois:

Didn't you hear? He's a more athletic version of Larry Bird.

And Finke has a lot of Dirk on his game. Malcom has that Paul Pierce YMCA game. Oh and JCL is pretty much Ray Allen behind the arc. Nunn definitely has looked like early JKIDD as of late too.

I wonder if the academic scandal situation at UNC will have any baring on Tilmon's decision. Would the NCAA dare punish UNC??? And if it would, it could be during the time when Tilmon would be there.

With that said, I know the NCAA is doing everything in its power to not have to do something to UNC. But what's funny is the rest of the nation won't let it drop.

I'm gonna say Goodwin ends up top 50, and Pickett moves up to around 130ish.

Pickett could end up in the top 100. If you compare him to Hill, which seems like a fair comparison, based on their respective junior year stats, Pickett could move into top 100 if he has a good summer. Hill averaged 21.3ppg as a junior while Pickett averaged 23.4ppg while shooting 55% from the field. Keep in mind they played for the same high school and AAU team. Pickett is also nearly the same height as Hill and is more athletic than Hill according to some posters on here who have seen him play.

Is Hill a fair comparison though? Hill had that "underrated star" hype in high school. I mean like the "He's from the south so he's not highly ranked, but those who have watched him know he's going to be a star in college" hype. At least, that's what I remember hearing on this board. I think if it was a fair comparison, we would be hearing similar compliments for Pickett.

Hill was a better player in high school imo. Pickett's game is similar and he's maybe only slightly more athletic than Hill. I'm not sure if his ranking will move since he's already committed, didn't have an impressive offer list to begin with, and won't see anymore attention from high major programs. I'm assuming scouting services may rank guys higher as they get more attention from programs, but I could be wrong.

Goodwin is going to bruise a few 5 star egos this summer.

Freebird, any truth to the rumor that Purdue has interest in Chastain and if they offer that's where he goes. He was at Illinois State on Mon. or Tues.

One thing to look for is what happens between their junior and senior years. I saw MH play a lot and I would call what happened between his junior and senior years in high school "normal progression". He was already an accomplished high school player that could shoot, handle and definitely pass better than 90% of his peers. His steps that offseason were to try and get physically bigger.

We don't know what Javon's steps will be. In theory, he probably will take normal progression as well. But, he also could take a big leap or not progress at all.

I guess all I am saying is we tend to remember MH for what he was when he during his senior year. We don't know what Pickett, Lewis or a Negron will be at the same point in their careers.
