He's the states #1 player. He's a PG which we need. You go after him if you can get him. Don't stay away because you're sad he chose the hotter prom date.

On the whole Charlie situation. If you are Groce and company you call Tejon and ask him if it is okay maybe sell the whole two point guard thing. If Tejon is okay then you recruit the heck out of Charlie.

They want a true PG in '17 and Charlie is Better than Gilyard. So go after him.

I don't see us going hard after Charlie Moore but maybe that's just me.

I'm with you, we seemed to have backed off when we picked up JCL, so what has changed to make it different...uncertainty with Tate, maybe; but just not sure that is enough & I'm still more scared at 5 in 2017 & beyond.

4 years of Moore vs 1 year of Tate, no brainer.
Sure, but there are other choices as well. 5th yr senior + 4 years of a 2017 kid + the 5th yr could be a big or a pg for maximum 2016 impact. With Williams coming in 2017, not sure another freshman pg in 2016 moves the needle as much as a 2016 big.

We have so many questions at every position outside of wing in 2016 & with Williams coming in 2017 just not sure pg is our highest priority. Not that it shouldn't be a priority, but at big come 2017 it could be just Finke. I think you have to take a big first if there is anyone that is reasonable.

Ya. Memphis is smokin. ;) Can CM even qualify? I always thought he really wanted to play here but something was keeping him from committing. Grades? Irvin? Maybe im wrong?

We have been lacking a real, true ball handler for 5 years.... The idea of an excess makes me drool

Anybody outside of Memphis's fanbase would never categorize Memphis as a "hotter prom date" than Illinois.

Just watched the Dick's National Basketball Championship game and that was a great game. Deficit for LaLu was too great, otherwise, probably had a chance. Campbell looks promising. Bowen is a good player, but struggled from the field. I really liked the play of Isaiah Coleman-Lands. Hit that big left corner trey and that ignited the Lakers. Hope Illinois recruits and offers him, because I want to see that LaLu pipeline keep existing.

Tilmon's injury was freakish. Kinda reminds me of Adam Wainwright's Achilles injury last season. Normal movement, yet went down surprisingly.

As for Moore, I wouldn't mind if Illinois goes after him. Could use another weapon in the arsenal, yet other schools are gonna step in and want him too. Class of 2016 high school targets are thin.

yea, I hear you, it has been way too long & I'm not saying you shouldn't take him...but we are getting past the point of over signing, decisions need to be made & on paper we are full, but with 4 higher risk potential openings in addition to any unexpected attrition. We have 3 players on the roster labeled pg, one coming off 2 injury years, 1 that we pretty much know what he is, 1 freshman that is also coming off an injury & unlikely to be ready to play significant minutes. Only 1 of these is back in 2017 regardless, but we add a freshman combo guard...Charlie could help us next year, likely to be our best back up this year.

At big we have 2-4 returning bigs, but 2 of these are gone come 2017 + Kipper (4?) mid year, with 1 of 2 returning bigs in 2017 currently on suspension & in limbo. As bad as we were at pg this year, we were even worse playing with 2 bigs. As bad as pg has been, big looks worse...that is really what I'm saying. Maybe I worry too much & Theo John, Tilman, and another big are committing soon and this whole problem goes away...but until we have at least 1 big signed in 2016/2017 my first scholarship goes to a big if we can find someone that has a reasonable chance of contributing in 2017.

Isn't Moore still signed with Memphis? How can their be a CM sweepstakes? Wouldn't it be illegal to contact him? Or is this just speculation?

Although I don't think you go as far as calling TJL, I think, at least from how TJL acts and speaks, he wouldn't mind having another PG here, I think worse case if we do get Moore, maybe we attempt to redshirt TJL.

Moore > Gilyard, but I like the Simeon Pipeline. Hard decision, but I don't think it'll have to be made. If Moore didn't choose us the first time, he won't the second time around, plus if Memphis gets a decent hire i don't see how he doesnt recommit. This decommit, although different situationally, seems like it could set up like a Snider 2.0 deal. Not looking for that.

He never signed a LOI.

It's definitely not too late for scholarships numbers to be an issue.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis head coach Josh Pastner has announced that top-80 recruit Charlie Moore has signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Tigers beginning in the 2016-17 season.

He can contact coaches. Or have Mike Irvin make some inquiries for him. :D

Every time we've talked about "oversigning" we come nowhere close it being a problem. It's always turned out to be putting the cart before the horse. I know we're pretty late in the game here, but imo you gotta start taking calculated risks if you want to win.

I totally agree that big-man is a more pressing issue at the moment. But there simply aren't any '16 big men out there that we have a reasonable shot at. and i'd much prefer going after a freshman PG than a 5th year big

Who knows anything about the Finke brother who is a SR? Could he be a candidate for preferred walk-on status? Appears to be a big, and I'm tired of hearing that the downstate kids can't play and then have to deal with them for 4 years at Purdue, Wisconsin, Indiana, etc...

The Finke's are big and unlike Mike, he plays as a big and the Finke's growth plates truly are open.

He's going to Army

Signed with Army a while ago. I thought he would be a good walk-on but can't blame the kid for taking a D-1 scholly.
