Disagree. Hill creates his own shot all the time. His fadeaway is one of the toughest shots in the league to defend, and he gets into position to take it with his dribble, jab-step, and use of his body. He gets contact and then fades away from it.

Hill definitely is not getting most of his points on set plays that get him wide open shots.

I don't know why you still wouldn't be high on Hill. He is one of the best players in the league and will likely end up as the third leading scorer in UI history in total points.

You may have misread my post. To be clear, I was high on Hill, and I still am high on Hill EXCEPT in the context of whether he plays in the NBA or not --for my money, I'm less confident now than I was earlier.

Second, I won't argue the point, especially since I missed far more games this season than I have in the past, but my limited recollection is of Hill having trouble when competent defenders actually guarded him. Plenty of drives going to the hoop where he was disrupted and missed, wanted a foul but didn't get it, or just didn't finish. Again, this is not a slam on Hill, simply an evaluation on what it takes to play at the next level, and what signs and observations I've had up to now with that in mind. Right now, I'd put him at borderline NBA caliber, but on the wrong side of the bubble, so to speak.

Hope your opinion is more accurate than mine --love to see him at the next level.

This kids starting to look more and more appealing. Athletic, long, gritty, good motor, scores, seems to have a nose for rebounds, can stroke it from 3 and has a good build...Does this kid have a weakness?

Terrence Lewis looks like the real deal. A year ago it sounds like he was inconsistent shooting from outside and measured about 6'4. Now he's filling it up from outside and stands 6'6. The only weakness I've gleaned (if you want to call it a weakness) is that he's not an elite run/jump athlete. Elite meaning high level NBA - he projects to be well above average at the college level and is still developing. I'm beginning to think he'll be one of those kids that rises big time over the summer - probable top-50 at the end of the AAU season IMO.

Uh, who is his "source". Obviously must be someone in or close to the Tilmon family. Roux is good.

Awesome. And all along I was thinking that one of the primary reasons for retaining JG was because he is in strong with the '17 class. Now his the hot seat is working against us.

It's a continuous loop really. Hot seat ==> harder to recruit. Weaker recruiting ==> Weaker performance. Weaker performance ==> Hot seat.

Rinse and repeat.

Shocking that coaches are using that strategy against Groce. :D

Like Roux just said, it's not surprising.. yet some people on here seem to be.

Please, Groce's job security is not the reason for Tilmon wanting to go to a Blue Blood, it's just a convenient excuse. The only people who should be shocked are our "insiders" saying it was a done deal.
Nothing is ever a done deal around here....Any one of us out here could have guessed as well as some of the " insiders."

Anyone who said Tilmon was a done deal is not an insider.

I would really love to see if any poster here applies this same level of contingency planning and worry to his/her actual life.

Like if you are planning for a vacation, do you bring clothes in case the plane is hijacked and lands in Siberia?

Like if you're unemployed, do you only apply/interview for one job at a time?

No, but you also don't worry about what you'll do if you receive 10 job offers. You wait until you get the first and if others roll in you adapt.

My guess would be that people are more surprised by the "it's likely having an effect" portion of his statement.

I'd like to get Tilmon and even if we do, I hope we get Theo John. Really liked his tape.

As for Hill, some people should not confuse NBA player with nba starter into all star level. Very different tiers of players. I think Malcolm is an nba player.

Charlie Moore has heard from Seton Hall, Iowa, Illinois, SMU, Vandy, Missouri, DePaul, LSU, Memphis, Miami, and Ga Tech since his release. https://twitter.com/dmcdonaldrivals/status/723199915732676608

Let him go. I get the kid can handle the rock and light it up when he's in rhythm, but don't put it past Moore to chuck up some ill-advised shots. Also, I really think he's going to be a defensive liability at the next level. IMO I'm happy we landed TL.

We'll see.... I don't see anything in his game that is NBA level, mainly because he's just not athletic enough at a generous 6'6" to be able to get much done. The length and quickness at the NBA level will devour him. Please come back and tell me how wrong I was...

Have Whitman make a personal call to Mr. Tilmon. Or is that against NCAA regs?

Whitman is free to demonstrate John Groce's job security to Jeremiah Tilmon. It's called a contract extension. This isn't complicated, the size of a buyout is how job security is determined in the college coaching industry. Give Groce a massive new deal and this chatter is settled once and for all and all the other coaches recruiting Tilmon will have no choice but to shut up.

Whitman isn't going to do that though, because Whitman, barring a miraculous on-court turnaround that Tilmon is powerless to effect, is going to fire John Groce and get a coach he believes is a long term winner. Ideally he'd have Jeremiah Tilmon trapped in an LOI at that point, but that's a minor detail.
