Basketball Transfer Thread

A decision would need to made relatively soon, yes?

I think NCAA says that you have to be enrolled 12 days before start of classes (Fall). I heard that staff is checking out his knee and that they want to get him on an UV and that way they can work him out. Now that Nunn's ship is freed up, CM is a strong possibility.

As BananaShampoo stated, summer enrollment. Unless transfers typically sit out the summer and need to only be enrolled in the fall.

I think ideally you would prefer them enrolled for summer, but since he has to sit out a year anyway fall isn't a big deal. For a freshman or 5th yr the extra time probably means a lot more.

Summer session I has already begun and ends June 11th. Summer session II begins June 13th and CM will not make that.
Fall enrollment.

If a transfer is enrolled for the fall, can he attend summer practice and conditioning? My guess is that he cannot, but I do not know.

More important for freshman to do the new Summer workout thing than a transfer. Transfer has a whole year to learn the system plus he has already gone thru the Summer training at previous school. UK :D

Forgive me if I've missed it - is there any report to suggest we've reached out to Matthews?

I havent seen anything at all. Illinibrave is always on top of all the tweets anything, which by the way I appreciate very much! I have not seen one thing on Matthews involving us or anybody. Kind of weird.

Late addition to the graduate transfer list: Minnesota forward Charles Buggs. School announces he has his degree and will play elsewhere.

Haven't seen anything on Charles Matthews at all!

Now that is interesting. I always thought Buggs had real upside. But I would venture he is looking for pt and we may not have that for him. or any 5th year for that matter. But that doesnt mean we wont get one.

As for Mathews, we are interested, and there is interest back but a few other schools might be better options for him, especially for potential pt and the chance to start from day 1.

I don't know much about J Mathews but he's exactly what we are looking for shooting wise

I don't see a scenario in which he comes to Illinois. I don't think Illinois recruited him to begin with.

I don't think Jordan Mathews would even think about coming here with all the wing scoring we have (despite Nunn's departure). If he did, though, he, JCL and Malcolm would have to be one of the top scoring/shooting trios in the country at the 2/3. Maybe he wants to play PG? Pick up the phone, JG!
