I've seen Goodwin in person zero times. Does that disqualify me? His handles have improved markedly in the past year, at least in the numerous clips out there.

I love Jordan's motor and is one of the best "refuse to lose kids" I've seen. He will be a very good college player wherever he goes but if you see him in person I think you would see what I'm talking about. This is not a slam on Jordan either because he would be in my top 5 kids I've seen play in high school.

Maybe I'll save you all some time continuing the Goodwin debate...I'm hearing it's highly doubtful Illinois will even get a visit, possibly no one will. Discuss

Well, he already has visited Illinois at least a couple times unofficially, so not sure whether that's good or bad for us. Any more insight?

Well if he doesn't pick UI, then I'm glad it is SLU. At least I will get to see him play.

Lewis going to ISU, another CB just flipped from Indiana to Xavier for Scruggs, putting X at 94%, stuemke5 putting the kibosh on JG -- we need that Frazier visit.

So if Goodwin goes to SLU, is there any chance Tilmon would flip to SLU? Only reason I am asking is that Frank Cusumano (St. Louis sports anchor) mentioned it the other night when talking about Travis Ford and Goodwin.

And the meltdown continues....... Why is no official visits a bad thing ?? JG has his mind made up .....probably for some time now......not an insider. JMO The kid has been a class act from the get go. I see nothing to change that. Be patient.

Ouch... However many options available. DJW can be as good if not better as a junior and then either Tim Finke, Eastern, Verge amongst others and you hardly feel a thing

I bet Illinois is keeping tabs on him as option C after Frazier/Scruggs but I agree that it's doubtful we are going hard after him.

Verge just makes me nervous, not really sure what you're getting from him. He could be great but just seeing his history I don't see it happening. Of course, this is from not seeing him live at all nor ever talking to the kid so could be wrong :thumb:

I just love his style of play. high motor, great moves and passing skills. Every few years a kid just comes along that I can watch play all day. Last one in my area was Boatright. But the below conversation is why I don't have my hopes up about 'Zo. Clearinghouse issues.

No word yet on where Alonzo Verge will play this season, seems he will be in the area though. Hearing Illinois, Providence recruiting hard
BUZZFEED RONNIE ‏@GovernorGhoul 1h1 hour ago
@michaelsobrien is he going to be able to qualify? Seems like Marcus LoVett situation all over again
Michael O'Brien Verified account ‏@michaelsobrien
@GovernorGhoul no clue. You are right, seems very similar. Even down to the big senior year Verge could put up.

All very good points and also possible that it coincides with what stuemke has heard

Any other players were recruiting at any position who could bring that inner dog that Goodwin brings? Toughness, refuse to lose, etc.

I'll be just as sad if JGood rejects us as I was happy when Tilmon picked us. He would put this class over the top.

I'm with you sir. I'm far from an expert but I'm thinking you can make a pretty darn clear case why no visits for JG period is a good thing. Now, if it was something along the lines of "Goodwin sets OV to SLU and only SLU", then I'd be concerned.

Sure, see scholarship grid of those who JG's staff have offered that haven't committed yet. Those are the players the staff feel have those characteristics you've mentioned. Of course, there are different skillsets for each, but they apparently would fit-in per the staff's evaluations.

If Goodwin's inner dog is truly as is described on this board by those who have seen him play, that type of mentality doesn't come around often. It's almost a level of insanity. And I mean that in a good way. The guys who truly refuse to lose and put the team on their back are not plentiful.
