I doubt it and I'm a big fan of Groce. I think Groce will be gone if the team doesn't make the tourney this year (barring a catastrophic injury, knock on wood). The anti-Grocers might stick to the shadows, but as soon as we lose a game we shouldn't this season they'll be back in force.

Groce is going no place if he is gone JT is gone and id almost be willing to bet so is Trent and DW unless you find a coach that can get them to decide to stay but JT for sure would be gone give JFG a break and lets see what happens in the next 2 years

What does everyone think is a reasonable expectation for Tilmon's Illini stats? I'm thinking something like 10 pts, 7 reb, 1.5 ast, 1.5 blk as a freshman and 14/8.5/2/2 as a sophomore. Probable mid-late 1st round pick after sophomore season.

I'm hoping for Thomas Bryant-like impact and development. Lottery after sophomore year.

I am interested to see how coach Fletcher will impact JFT and his game.

Actually, all our great recruits should really benefit from his program.

Great news about Tilmon, we were due and I also believe this year will get us back to at least the old norm of making the tourney and maybe surprise to the upside....

Unless something weird or horrible happens, JG is going nowhere whether the team makes the tourney this year or not.

Yeah I tend to think that this class, and in particular JT, buys JG another year even if we only make the NIT. If we don't even make that, I think he may be toast.

When can the 2017 recruits start benefitting from Mr Fletcher's program ? Do they have to wait until next summer ?

He can probably give some guidance now, but for the most part, they'll still rely on their high school programs.

Sorry if this was mentioned earlier, but Tilmon actually sent the LOI in on Tuesday.

Just a couple of points

I see Groce building something here, I see a good talented NCAA team this year. Can we just go with that and stop talking about not making the tourney and Groce being fired. It is loser talk and we just landed a very talented class to go along with a group of talented returning players next year.

Groce talks about recruiting people, students, players. If a recruit has serious questions about 2/3 and the player part is a position no longer of need (PG) I say he takes a flier.

I believe Groce continues to go after Epperson. Epperson looks like a stretch 4/center type (Frank Kaminsky type). Having an Epperson to battle Tilmon in practice would help them both. There will be minutes for both, Tilmon getting the bulk of them.

For those that aren't sold on the younger Finke. I would take a taller, more athletic, better shooter version of Tom Michael's son(McKendre). Possibly much easier recruitment, oh I forgot we love the angst of these recruitments.
