DJ Williams mom really going at it on twitter. She's upset her son didn't see any tick today,and I don't blame her. DJ is our best athlete and has major upside.

I don't blame her or DJ for being upset. He should have played today. Another case of poor rotation decisions.

I think it's obvious to anyone who watches that TJL needs to play over Tate. The fact that he got in the game so much today suggests that maybe (maaaaaybe) Groce is starting to see that too. He took a lot of minutes from both Tate and Tracy today. Hopefully he takes more as the season goes on, because he's only going to get better. It's night and day how much better we looked with him on the court.
Unfortunately we had several no-shows today.

Bright spots:
TJL (obviously)
Leron seems to be ready to go, and is looking like the player we heard so much about on last year's Europe trip
Thorne has looked much better than past 2 games. Maybe he just needed a few games to get the rust shook off.

Hopefully they can build and get better, because if things stay as is its going to be a long season for everyone. What we're seeing right now ain't gonna cut it

What I meant is that if DJ stays at Illinois, he will have a new coach next season just as he would if he transferred, but with the benefit of not having to sit out a year.

Don't transfer DJ - Groce will be gone at the end of the year. :chief:

I agree and just 7 days ago Groce was saying how DJ had his best overall performance and now he doesn't even play.

Ive been saying since before the first loss that TJL and DJ Williams should be playing a lot more . Being a senior doesn't guarantee you playing time or a starters spot especially on this team. Groce should be looking for the best combination regardless of class and everyone should accept their roles.

I have to agree with the above posters. Even as a freshman Tejon looks like you expect your point guard to look. He is already head and shoulders above any point guards we have had for quite some time, and he performed against two top 25 teams. He penetrated both teams defense and either had a great pass or got to the basket when no body else could, and he has scored from multiple spots on the court. He should be starting now and playing as many minutes as possible. Even our long time players do not seem to know how to watch the shot clock, and most of them dribble when they should be getting in position for an assist from the guy who should be dribbling. Considering how poorly we are playing I don't blame DJ's mom for being upset either. How could he possibly do any worse than the ones playing now. I had really high hopes for this team a few weeks ago, but the older players seem to be getting worse. The turnovers are completely ridiculous. Other than these few things I have had a great thanksgiving and I hope the rest of you have too. I have followed Illinois since the early 60's but this is really disheartening to see.

That he should play more and that these rotations are bad.

Frankly, these observations alone nearly qualify her to be on our staff.

Not like the recent pipeline has brought much good. A point guard that can't shoot and a kid that got kicked off the team. Jury is out on DJ Williams. Maybe he will be good.
