Please God have mercy on us and make this season end.
I don't want to watch this crappie but my 11 year old does. I am going for a walk.

I keep watching just to see if there is any hope for the future. Black has his moments. Lucas has his. But they are too few. JCL seems to have regressed. I'm not optimistic, but I'll watch anyway.

I feel apathy for myself and feel bad for Illini nation. These are dark days. JW has to do something.

The state middle-school champs are certainly less talented, but might also be more fun to watch.

And likely would demonstrate more determination while on defense. :(

My point is being a high major D1 basketball player is ELITE. it's hard enough making the varsity team in h.s. at a solid program, let alone being a full scholarship player in college. We're playing a good team at their place who have an awesome coach too. It was never going to be a cakewalk.

If your point is that everyone out there is much better than a bunch of guys hitting their keyboards, I don't think anyone would disagree. But we're a weak big ten team that is poorly coached. Relative to the competition that we play, we are not good.

I don't think anyone argued against your point.

OK guys, this is not meant to be snarky (sorry if it comes out that way) but I have some coaching questions (as only a casual basketball strategist) that I just can’t figure out. Some of this has been bugging me for a long time and some of this is just from the 1st half:

1.) Why do we play zone against a good three point shooting team? Isn’t the conventional wisdom of the zone to prevent inside penetration and dare a team to shoot over you? Were they playing a 3-2 perimeter zone and I just didn’t catch it?

2. Isn’t one of the main benefits of playing a deep bench to really push the pace and run down the other team? In that case why have we almost never pressed? I love, love, love using 10-12 guys, but it seems pointless to do if you are just going to run the same pack line defense and not try to push the pace.

3. Why would we ever have a line-up of Tate, Abrams, Jordan, Kipper, and Mav? It seems like such a bad offensive group (outside of Mav) that I just don’t get it.

4.Why would a coach play someone at the 2-guard spot who this year has a Big Ten FG% under 25% and a career 3pt% around 30%…. Especially when we have plenty of other options and ways to utilize our versatile 2,3, and 4 guys.

Non coaching question:

5.Will officiating ever get better? There were some really rough calls both ways… I don’t think JCL has actually fouled, yet I believe he has been called for 3.

Thanks. This has nothing to do with my life, my life is great. My favorite college basketball team sucks. I don't come on a basketball forum for life advice. Good day sir.
