Illinois 76, Iowa 64 POSTGAME

TJL looked pretty good out there. He made some bad decisions where he let himself get trapped in bad positions, but he'll learn by playing more. Did you hear the crowd boo loudly at 8:51 left when he was taken out for Abrams?

This game would have been serious trouble if Jok had been 100%.

Now we have to somehow win 2 of the next 3, then 2 of 3, then 2 of 3, then at Rutgers. Not likely. Not impossible. But it requires either @ PSU or vs WIS. one of the next two or we're officially done.

Cool. We beat the 11-9 (now 11-10) Iowa. At home. With their best/only good player injured.

Minutes distribution among the guards:
Te'Jon---27 mins, 6 assists, 2 TO's
JCL----20 mins, 4 assists(Wow), 0 TO's(double Wow)
Tracy----17 mins, 1 assist, 1 TO
Tate----15 mins, 3 assists, 1 TO

That's 14 assists out of our backcourt with only 4 TO's. That is a winning recipe.

For me, each game stands alone. I honestly think JW makes a move after the end of the season at this point, so I'm rooting for wins. This was nothing more and nothing less than trying to stop Iowa from winning in Champaign, and it's always nice to beat them!

If we can manage to play at a level that's not too far away from how we played tonight, we can be in almost every game for the remaining schedule.Good luck...

They have only 1 opportunity for a major win in that remaining schedule and that's vs. Wisconsin. Fortunately, it is a home game, so that gives us a fighting chance. But, I wouldn't be surprised if we lose to them by 25.

That's not accurate. Minnesota and Northwestern are both top 50 RPI and Michigan St. is on the edge of top 50

We have home games with all 3

Yea, as much as it pains me to say, any win against northwestern at this point is a good win unfortunately. Now excuse me as I go :hurl:

I'm talking about a statement and resume-building victory. NU and Minny are not top 25 teams, in fact, Minny will end up as an 8 seed at best and more than likely a 9 or 10 seed. I'm not convinced on Richard Pitino as a coach. NU is knocking on the door but I'm sure they will have to go through the gauntlet to end the conference season.

Wisky is a top 15 team, the Illini have been crushed by top 25 teams this season. That will be a statement game.

Agreed. Minnesota and Wisconsin both have good RPI's and Penn St. would be a top 100 road win. I think 2 of them puts us back on Bubble

This win keeps us in the bubble conversation. Winning more significant games would solidify our spot. We are at the point in our schedule that eases up and every win will matter. Not to mention our youth are stepping up and Mav is becoming more consistent. I think we are in a good spot. We have a chance to win our last 7 games.

The NCAA committee has been very consistent with emphasis on the RPI and strength of schedule. That may change as early as next year but this year it continues. The fact is RPI wise Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern @Nebraska and @ Penn St. are all resume building possible wins

I'm not arguing we are good. We haven't been. However, our NCAA resume is better than the on the court team

Funny how it seems that Jok's injury counts as "something" for tonight's game. Yet, all of the injuries that we have sustained, somehow, were labeled as excuses. If Jok was so injured, he should have sat out. NO excuses for the Squawks...

On to PSU. :chief:
