Wisconsin 57, Illinois 43 POSTGAME

Never seen a team execute so poorly. Simple things like boxing out. Boxing out on free throws. They couldn't grab a rebound when happ was shooting free throws. Lucas still taking the ball out and no one understands why. Morgan fouling happ on the shot at the end. Foul him hard dude. Mav is so soft with the ball. Won't dunk it. This team is horrible to watch. I'm not sure how much of this falls on groce. There is 0 intensity from the players. No emotion at all. Seems like they don't care.

I thought about buying tickets to see the Northwestern game next Tuesday but I fear that Northwestern will run us off the court. It would've been fun but not with the way these guys are playing and being coached. Just can't do it...

We made 16 buckets. The 40 we missed must have all been contested. I guess Groce has to go.

When are we going to hold the players accountable?

They're all accountable. Poor game management + subpar talent = 4 years of terrible basketball

Feel terrible for Malcolm. He's worked so hard to get to this point in his career and he needed a big game tonight, but his shot just wouldn't fall.
Poor guy deserves a better senior send-off than this, that's for danged sure.

Mav may have his deficiencies but he's come a long way since he started. He is not the problem with this team. One of the few bright spots. Cut him some slack. He is not a physical player, he is a finesse guy.

The coaches aren't giving the players a legitimate chance to succeed. Players at this level need guidance. Groce is just rolling the ball out there and hoping the players make something happen on their own.

Wisconsin is well coached and looked confident. We on the other hand, not so much. Yes we couldn't hit shots. There is a reason for that. They play defense and make you rush your shots. We don't play defense. We roll the ball up the court to save a few seconds, because that's how you win games.

Actually we had some pretty good shots, but just couldn't hit them. In basketball, offense comes & goes. ( Generally speaking, I think our offensive sets are bad, but we seemed like we had several open looks tonight.) All that said, a team needs to play well defensively (the old saying, defense travels).
Defense includes positioning, blocking out, etc, & we don't appear to have been taught defensive fundamentals, at all.

At least there's some money to be made betting against the beloved.

Doing it with 18:30 to play in the second half...classic. I don't want to hear anymore of this "Groce doesn't make 2nd half adjustments" nonsense.

This is a close game if we just hit open shots.

But this is an easy win if this team is being coached up to its talent level.

We are still making arguments this team has upper level B1G talent? I think the coaching stinks too but I don't think the talent you speak of is present either.

guards shot 4-18 combined, counting Malcolm. Guess we moved to the last 10 out now.

And as far as playing hard? Yes, sometimes. Who got nearly every rebound and every loose ball the last 8 minutes of the game. Hint: they wore red.

Listen, I didn't expect to win. But I expected a better effort. From the coaches and players. Wisconsin hit how many free throws? I think if you aren't sending a poor free throw shooting team to the line, you aren't playing hard enough.

At least the clock does not start!:hand:

Let's say for a minute, it's all the players fault. Who's responsible for fixing that?

To date Groce has proven to be incapable of recruiting the caliber of talent he needs to WIN Big Ten games. After 4.5 season, I think its fair to call his tenure a failure.
