Looks like Tilmon will stick with illinois and Underwood. Cuonzo is 0/2. #mizzou. 🔷🔶🔥

not sure what credibility if any this guy has. definitely an illinois homer. probably on here somewhere.

Maybe somebody in the know, somebody with real credibility, should start a separate thread just to keep uptodate on how Tilmon, Pickett, Frazier, Williams are leaning. Not that we need any more update on Frazier, mind you.

Francis Okoro gained a great individual workout guy last night, and a guy with Illini ties. There's some good news.

I'm hearing the Mizzou staff saying they have him and the Illini staff thinking they have him. Sooo back where we started pretty much.

Interesting that Miznoz would have him, considering that they aren't allowed to communicate with a committed recruit. Hmmm...

Ugh. If I were Underwood I would not have thrown this much of my capital on the table in my first week on the job.

Losing Tilmon would definitely be a disaster. But whether the decision to keep Walker is a disaster goes beyond Tilmon. If he gets us Mark Smith and future STL area recruits (like Liddell or whoever else), he'll have been a good retention. And he may contribute in other valuable ways (player development, keeping current players happy, etc.). The really troublesome things would be:

(1) if BU was under impression that retaining Walker would keep Tilmon and that was the primary reason to keep him - doesn't speak well of BU's judgment if that's how he assessed the situation and it doesn't come to fruition; or

(2) if losing Tilmon would be indicative of Walker's inability to get future guys out of STL area.

Either of those and it'd really bad. But if possibly retaining Tilmon was only part of the equation for retaining Walker, Walker is valuable in other ways, and will continue to recruit STL well, it's a major hit but not a disaster.

Maybe I'm misreading the situation, but I cannot conceive of a world in which we lose Tilmon and get Smith.

Jeremiah has people around him that didn't want him to come to Illinois. I just find it hard to believe they'd think Miznoz was the place.
But I'm sure Cuonzo has talked to people who talk to JT.

Theres no reason to think Tilmon is considering Mizzou. All of that smoke is coming from the Mizzou homers. Not a single Illinois insider or source that I follow (or subscribe to) think Mizzou is a legit concern. Its mainly from a few of the homers on their message boards, started out as if we can get Walker maaaybe we can also get Tilmon. Thats turned into Walker is gone, but we can still get Tilmon. To no way Tilmon turns us down now. Wouldnt put much stock into Tilmon to Mizzou.

Just to point out a few reasons why he would/might consider Mizzou.

-Cuonzo is highly regarded in the ESL area.
_Cuonzo's sister is the assistant principal at Tilmon's school.
-Chance to play with the #1 player in the country and his highly rated brother.
-I imagine Mizzou will also get some other highly rated recruits for the same reasons.

and #5: Cuozou's offense will allow him to play football on the basketball court...

wait maybe that goes in the other column. :noidea:
