BOOM! Feed my ego.
Tried to warn folks about the potential nut-punch scenario. Didn't think it would actually happen though. One more crappy Wednesday for the memory banks. Bleh.

We lost a below average coach with a below average support staff and gained a superior coach praised by everyone who follows the sport. Today he added an amazing support staff (Coleman?) that will get us in the doors of kids we need in order in order to have a chance to compete for B1G titles and Final Four appearances, and we're supposed to have sore nuts? I sure don't.

Think of it as a stock price graph. Peaks, valleys, but ultimately the stock is worth a whole lot more today than it was a few months ago, or even yesterday. The far right is where UI basketball is at at this moment. Be thrilled.

:illinois: my hope is the nCAA at least looks into this if indeed tilmon goes to mizzou. if SCuzzo martin did tamper. hope they bust him for it.:chief::shield::illinois::mad:

I don't get this line of thinking. Who care if they were talking g behind the scenes. If they did and he wants to leave so be it. Having tilmon would be great but he wants to be at mizzou that is where he should be

...because that's a gross violation of the quiet period which has been in effect...

It's looking more and more like Bruninga could be a possibility. With 3 scholarships available (and could be a couple more if anyone transfers)....5th year big, Mark Smith, and Bruninga.

Or maybe we get Kiir, 5th year big, Bruninga.

That's fine if that is what is really bothering people but it just feels like sour grapes.

Mark Smith doesn't have much in connections to this class now

I'd rather go with Smith, Kiir, and a 5th year transfer.

Kiir would be excellent, but sounds like an LSU lean. Believe Clifton Moore requested release from IU,...but don't know if he would be feasible or a fit.

Interesting find, possibly no relevance, found interesting though....same school as Kiir?

Logan Windeler, Mac Irvin, Victory Rock Prepsame as Kiir, Obvious Illinois ties....hmmmmm

Smith, Kiir, Windeler?

Everyone coming out of the woodworks and falling over themselves to suddenly call Tilmon overrated is really not a good look IMO. This situation absolutely hurts but that isn"t the way to cushion the blow. He still technically could end up playing for us.

Agreed, but I actually am on record as stating he has NEVER been a one and done type, which in essence qualifies as an over-rated I suppose since he has always been ranked like 20-40 or 50 in rankings.

I definitely would too. The only posters who want Bruninga are local and a tad biased IMO.

But the only way we take Bruninga is if we have plenty of scholarships. The assumption was we only had 2 schollys and 1 was for Smith and the other was for a 5th year. That obviously has changed. No coach wants to start off his first season with empty seats on the bench, especially if there is a kid with decent height in his backyard.

Look let's not pretend that Tilmon was way overrated and we didn't want him. Is he a one and done? No. Is he someone we could really use? Yes. That said our program is in better shape then it was a month ago. We have upgraded our head coach and our assistants. The arrow on the program is definitely pointed up.

Ouch, can't say I'm surprised as he never felt bought in, but that one definitely hurts. I have no problem with him opening up after he met Underwood and got feelers about potential options elsewhere. The re-tweet two days back however was unfortunate look for him as things like that stick with you and a reputation is hard to change. I'm betting an adult let him down with bad advice as there was no need for it.

Anyhow, sad to hear he's going elsewhere.

Best of luck young man....

I mean yea... I'm going to be sour if someone potentially cheated and skirted rules by "visiting a sister" in ESL to back channel and get into a committed recruit's ear during a period where no contact whatsoever is supposed to be the rule adhered to.

But hey, it's all good. Orlando Antigua is going to EAT anyone on Zo's staff head-to-head and I'd feel confident putting Coach O up against Scumzo himself. Come at us Mizzou. We ready.

Not local or biased in anyway here....I think Windeler and or Bruninga could fit the bill for BU system for tall wings/shooters instead of just guards with guards size. That said, are there other options out there sure...but why not at least look into these types to fill an additional scholly or seat?

Woodwork, no? There's a reason (albeit yes, i know there was an injury) that he finished #4 in Mr. BBall voting for IL and wasn't a McD All-American.

Losing Tilmon hurts. Playing Walker like a drum and asking out was just plain wrong the way it went down.

There are a lot of wrongs here. I really hope that if Missouri is the final stop for this kid that the NCAA take a strong look at this recruitment.

It isn't so wrong to think that your word should mean something when a person expresses it. All the TV westerns taught us that. Even young children should already know this. That's what smells about what happened today. Or maybe that's being just too old school anymore for these times.

You're arguing a point I didn't make, and conflating two separate ideas here.
