This kid is amazing for sure. One of the best in game dunkers I have ever seen on any level.

Also has good handles for his size.

But the competition he plays against in South Carolina is a joke. I want to see him play against serious AAU competition.

Obviously you didn't see him play at the TOC in Washington. He was amazing, and there were some good teams and players there.

ZION WILLIAMSON of Spartanburg Day School put on the greatest performance in ToC History when soared to the bucket for a record-tying 50 points and 10 dunks in the Griffins victory over Proviso East. Williamson finished the tournament with 117 points, 48 rebounds and an astonishing 21 slam dunks! Williamson was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Washington Invitational and finished as one of the All-Time ToC Greats!

The NCAA is really concerned by the blatant tampering of players committed to programs and transfer candidates. Mizzou is the poster child and everyone knows it.

Nice! Good stuff. I have no doubts he will be a great player. As long as he has a coach that will push him, I think Frank Martin would be perfect for him.

Williamson looks like he could be the greatest men's volleyball player of all time if he wanted to be. Kid literally spiked the basketball for his blocks. Regardless of where he plays, I look forward to watching his dunks on sports center.

Unless I'm forgetting some actual offense Mizzou has committed maybe pump the brakes on calling them the poster child for tampering... While i think its possible there was some shady stuff going on, its definitely not the likely cause for Tilmon's decommitment. He never seemed 100% illini, starting with the fact that the fanbase/UI admin seemingly forced his hand signing a LOI.

If CM did really contact Tilmon while his LOI was intact, it was almost certainly through "legal" channels (ex. Porter). Sucks to lose a top 50 recruit in an area of dire need, but to say Mizzou is the poster child for tampering without anything other than complete speculation is absurd.

Yeah well Mizzou has been a mess for years. They've had Snyder and Haith in there and now there is a lot of smoke around Martin. I don't know if they have an administration/booster problem that is impacting/swaying the coaches or if there is a culture change that needs to occur or what. If they are committing violations, I acknowledge they are not the only ones but they must be doing it in a much more reckless or careless or incompetent way than others.

Still on the learning curve for the SEC? :D

I kid, I kid.

Seriously though, it seems strange how quiet his recruitment has become

My kid caught 2 of his games over there in Washington. Said he was a beast...

I'm sure Coach O can get in to see him. Not sure how far he'll get, but I guy like Coach O and his pedigree with big men who are one and done should at least get in the door.

There is? I don't recall too much smoke at Tennessee, Cal or even during the coaching search.

Has Trent been recruiting Badocchi yet? If not, he needs to get on that ASAP. Somebody that has a twitter account kindly ask Trent if he’s bringing Badocchi with him. :thumb:

Heh. I was only joking, but if OA wants to give it a shot, I won't complain. :D

I took the quick NOPE then the smile after being asked about, players who asked out of there LOI to mean, they were indeed talking to JT

They must be. I know the SEC is no stranger to cutting corners. But again, the other schools seem to be more competent at it.

I know this will sound strange, but I want to see more. Yes, he can dunk and jump out of the building, but what actual skills does he bring? The NBA won't care about that, but if you look at some of the recent high rated players who were athletic, but lacked skills, they didn't do so well. Cheick Diallo didn't play most games, Cliff was pretty underwhelming, Harry Giles and Marques Bolden didn't do anything at Duke (I'm aware of the injuries, but 3ppg and 3rpg aren't cutting it), and Chris Walker at Florida looked lost the majority of the time. At some point, some skills are needed in addition to the athleticism.

I asked him myself when he was in town to play the Dallas Mavericks & he said that Groce never contacted him to come to Illinois.

I have talked to Groce personally about it. Groce never contacted him about coming to Illinois. But he did contact him/family. It was not a 'never heard from again' story.

I took it only to mean that everyone in the room knew who was being asked about. I'm not sure how one could glean anything beyond that out of his answer, aside from wishful thinking. That doesn't mean he isn't still actively recruiting JT, but I have no clue how anyone could conclude that based on his answer/reaction.
