Yeah, that's Meh City. I think this will take care of itself after a few seasons, but soon we'll be able to pitch winning.

Illinois?

"They are recruiting me and their pitch to me has been the whole hometown thing."

Sounds pretty meh, imo.

Interesting how as a top point guard, passing never came up in either his strengths or what he's working on.

Bradley moving out of Robertson Memorial and into the Civic Center (Carver Arena) was the death of Bradley basketball. When they built the Rennasaince Center (about 5,000 seats) they should have doubled that seating capacity so they could bring BU basketball back on campus where it belongs.

I saw this this morning and I'm gonna offer my opinion on it before going back to where this thread should be, and that's focused on the Illini.

Moving to Carver didn't kill BU basketball...they had 30 years of averaging over 7500 people in attendance at the Civic Center, with most of those years being over 9000 per game, and as recent as 2010. What has killed BU basketball is being terrible. My personal opinion is it all started with a micromanaging President who threw around the idea of moving to D2....good luck recruiting to any sport if that's the messaging being thrown around, and BU's athletic department as a whole hasn't been able to recover since, especially since the flagship program has been an embarrassment and the cash cow that was BU basketball isn't flowing.

And BU basketball has always been Peoria's team. Most of the people that go to games have always been Peoria area residents, not BU students. But when the program sucks people aren't going to come support it except for the real die hards (which is true at any program outside Indiana maybe). And I'm saying all this as a former Bradley student athlete whose family has had season tix since the played in the Fieldhouse.

As for Illini recruiting.....the only thing I know is that Insiders are really entertaining and its fluid.

I think part of that is the question that was asked and the format. He allowed the kid a one line response. We all know that Coach is pitching more than the hometown thing. The guard heavy offense that leads the nation in offensive efficiency is obviously being sold hard as well. I just can't imagine it isn't.

Regardless, that is what stood out to Ayo the most when asked to pick one or two lines about us recruiting him.

Cant count how many guys said Illinois was the destination school, and ended up somewhere else. I put no stock in what is said anymore, let the process play out.

(Long time lurker second time poster :D )

MEH- exclamation .
expressing a lack of interest or enthusiasm.

"Meh. I'm not impressed so far"
adjective .
uninspiring; unexceptional. "a lot of his movies are … meh"

My thoughts to he is gone post. Absurd

This is so simple, not complex. All Underwood and his staff have to do is finish with a solid overall and conference record and make the NCAA Tournament. The wins will come. The elite-level talent will come. Just win.

Amen. With the team and the recruits coming I think we are going to win. :)

Could be a ploy. Anything else he's said has been very positive.

It is way early in the recruitment so I am not worried about that at all. We all know that isn't the only thing we are selling him and so does he. I took it as no big deal.

I am not worried right now either, and I don't think it's a huge deal. It has definitely been very positive outside of this little comment.

Just isn't inspiring to see his comments about the other schools recruiting him versus ours in that particular article.

What I hope we can sell him this time next year is "hey, see what Mark Smith has done and how awesome his stats were this year?"

:)

Speaking of Peoria (and since this isn't really a Bradley recruiting thread), would be nice to get Adam Miller. Saw this recently and was nice to walk down memory lane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iopg0imeu0c&t=6s

I know there was a bit of a gap between Altenberger and "Y" to Hester but a video tribute that includes Mark Smith, Derek Holcomb, Kevin Westervelt, Doug Altenberger and Tony Wysinger with the Hester to DJ guys would be awesome.

I agree. I am not worried at all about his recruitment at all. We've been so used to being the bridesmaid, I think we forgot how to be the bride. Mark Smith comes to mind.

He will likely sign in the fall before Smith ever plays a game.

First, I want to thank MTR and his quick updates over the weekend on our recruits. Anyone else concerned about THT and fouls? He seemed to be in foul trouble every game. Not being able to watch or willing to pay to watch, is it a control issue. Seemed to be offensive fouls quite a bit.
