That gif also makes me think of the last 4 years of Illinois basketball.

this is the past 10 years for me

Not real sure why you think he would not play here. Yeah I said all along I thought he would RS and I still think he would. but he broke Hills scoring record and most compare him to Hill. I do not think many here wouldn't loved to had Hill RS and have another year to play. I said it when he first asked out of his LOI not to count us out on him or JT, and who knows, maybe he would be the final push JT needs to sign. Just have to wait and see I guess.

Pickett coming back will only help our chances with JT. Pickett is under rated, and if he wants to come back that's great and all, but I don't think BU wants him.

I think Pickett probably was asked to look elsewhere. I don't know that for sure. I don't think Pickett or JT end up at Illinois. But I am sure Pickett won't.

I will be really surprised if OSU takes him. He seems like a MVC player. I had heard rumors that SLU wanted him to redshirt.

Pickett would be the fourth best guard in his own recruiting class. After seeing him play multiple times I don't believe he has the athleticism to fit in Underwood's system. If you want to know where he fits, look at the offers he's getting after being released from his LOI.

Nobody is told they will be redshirted in April. That doesn't even make sense when the coaching staff doesn't know what the roster will look like. Sometimes ridiculous things are posted here.

Javon expected other p5 offers and then got a reality check.

I was told by someone connected to the program that Pickett was advised that they would honor his LOI , but he wasn't a great fit and would be better served redshirting to get in better shape.

I was listening and I took it as though Javon made a bad decision in the heat of the moment that he regrets. I'm thinking he made a decision based on the decision JT made and now that things have changed he regrets it.

He also said that Ohio State has requested his transcripts.

Based on timing, I got the feeling that Pickett was following Tilmon's lead and now possibly regrets it, something of buyer's regret perhaps.

After listening to the interview Jeremy had with Javon's coach, I took it as, Javon realized he made a mistake asking out of his NLI (and that had he stayed signed, the staff would've definitely kept him) but that now the ship has sailed. He didn't get into much detail, but he definitely insenuated that things changed after Pickett asked out. I do feel slightly bad for the kid. I'm sure seeing Tilmon ask out was probably emotional for him. Regardless, I wish him luck wherever he ends up.

This seems like the most plausible scenario.

As for Tilmon at UNC, UNC has signed three bigs for 2017 and if Tony Bradley stays in the draft, then they only have NR former walk on Luke Maye as a big w experience. Tilmon would start over all of the 2017 bigs they have already. Tilmon is rated much higher than the 3 incoming freshman. He'd start as the 5 w Maye at the 4. He'd get 25 minutes if he could stay out of foul trouble.

That being said UNC is done recruiting bigs. They backed out of the race for fifth year guy Whitman that just committed to Kansas.

The notion that Brad Underwood, with all the moving cogs going on, basically said he needed to go play somewhere else or he HAD to redshirt is so absurd.

Brad isn't stupid. Pickett lead the charge here and you aren't going to fill your first recruiting class with superstars. You don't build good will in the area telling a kid to take a hike (nicely).

This isn't an indictment on you or on Pickett's game: So many Central Illinois prospects are touted as underrated on this board. An uninformed viewer of this board would think the Central Illinois area is teeming with prospects and somehow never get the national acceptance they deserve.

Pickett is not from Central Illinois.

You are taking it as they are saying IF you come here you are redshirting, that is not what it is, BUT even with Finke he was told they would like him to think about it to get stronger and fill out. Finke kept saying he was coming to play not to red shirt, but in the end he did didn't he

That's what you just implied in the other statement I quoted you as saying. You clearly said Pickett was told he'd be RS'd. Now you are implying that's not what was said?? Which is it?

I thought I had read that kids had to agree to redshirt, that they couldn't be forced to do so.

Yea but a coach can just not play a player too. So if a coach says, look I dont see much playing time for you but with a redshirt year I think you could establish yourself, what would you do?
Coach is basically saying if you don't want to redshirt that's fine but youll burn a year.

Anyone suggesting that Underwood should reoffer Pickett is definitely lacking faith in the staff's forthcoming success with '18 recuits. Underwood said in his interview today that he is never going to reach for a player that doesn't fit the system, just because he can arrive on campus a year sooner. Take a look at the athleticism and speed of the wings the staff has offered over the past few days and compare it to Pickett. I don't mean to be harsh, but it's clear as glass IMO.

This is spot on. All the 018's offers are upgrades over Pickett. No need to redshirt a guy under that scenario and burn a ship.
