Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (May-June 2017)

I don't think the Tilmon talk got started up again just because Mark Smith mentioned him. That certainly added to it though. He's still available in the 2017 class, so I think it's completely appropriate to bring him up in the recruiting thread.

KU is filled up and Mizzou is trying to get the younger Porter brother to reclassify. If it's true and he's back living with his Mom, it makes sense that there would be smoke. She's on our side.

Frankly, I don't think anyone really knows what Tilmon's plans are and based on what I've heard, the Corey Evans report is a little out of date.

Completely agree! I think anyone even MENTIONING Tilmon is wasting their time and valuable space on this thread! No more mentioning Tilmon, people!

Yeah man, sometimes this thread is like....

That gif also makes me think of the last 4 years of Illinois basketball.

Really not that much difference in Milan to Chicago vs Milan to D.C in either time or fare. Dulles or Reagan are closer to Charlottesville than O'Hare to Champaign, but not that much. Of course even that difference will be negated once they complete the Peotone Int'l Airport:D

The biggest problem to that Reagan-Milan flight is that it is not legally possible.

I believe they have 2 open at the moment but they have been really bad so do not think they wouldn't make a lot of room if needed

They have 2, but if Jontay Porter reclassifies he is going to Mizzou. Leaving them with 1 or Tilmon's sport, whichever way you wanna look at it.

She wants him at Illinois, or she liked Groce?

She wants him at Illinois and she likes Jamall.
He said at least twice he'd never have committed here except for Jamall. Now other people are involved that never wanted him at Illinois, Jamall, Groce, or otherwise.

Not to mention I have yet to hear anybody say that she dislikes Brad Underwood. As far as Coach Walker, JT calls him Uncle Jamal for a reason so I think people are carried away with the "she liked Groce" stuff.

All of that said, I am not holding my breath that we get him. It has been crazy from the get go so no reason to think it won't continue that way.

I wish he'd do something, I've grown really weary of this saga!

Since you want to play this game again

Not really, but the lack of info doesn't help. I get why people would say move on --in fact I posted something along those lines myself when he first asked out of his LOI.

I'm personally thinking it's about 75% that we'll find someone to guard the 5 spot who currently isn't on the roster. If we go all month without resolving, I'll start to wonder though. IMHO JT isn't likely, but the fact that he hasn't committed elsewhere is puzzling, as is the general lack of info about where he's headed, as well as the fact that we know Mark Smith is recruiting him, and has been in contact quite recently.

So far, I've been impressed with how BU and staff have handled themselves. They have a fantastic win signing Illinois Mr. Basketball, Mark Smith, and have been moving quickly to get recruiting rolling. I get the impression they are much more dialed in to what works, and recognize how to get the kind of talent and fit they will win with.

If you know something definitive, by all means share it....

Exactly my thoughts. Thanks for that thought , I think many feel this way. Resolving the big man situation is one that all concerned about, even coach and staff.

That remark was do to you adding the She loves Groce . Walker has been our in all along with JT and he still is . Mom says he is like a brother to her, and JT says he is like an Uncle. Ever been around a kid who's Parents are fighting ??? Most times they do not say anything that would give one more to yell about

Javon P

Just heard Ramey Jets AAU coach talk on Tay and J show, he sort of let out that Javon may have regretted decomitting, and that he's an Illini at heart

Hoo boy Andre McMurray all but confirming that Javon Pickett would be at Illinois if it were up to him on Werner's show just now. I guess we all suspected as much, but uncomfortable to hear...

I was listening and I took it as though Javon made a bad decision in the heat of the moment that he regrets. I'm thinking he made a decision based on the decision JT made and now that things have changed he regrets it.

He also said that Ohio State has requested his transcripts.
