Given recent events, I guess Kaleb Wesson (Ohio State) just might now be available. He's not long and athletic, but he looks like a huge presence in the middle.

His dad played at Ohio State, and his brother is currently a sophomore on the team. Not sure he'll look elsewhere, despite the coaching change.

Conditt is definitely no DJ Wilson .... yes he verballed but lest see if he actually gets an official NLI when this winter or was it just appease the Chic Public League

With Matta fired, would Bates-Diop be able to transfer and be able to transfer and play next season if he so desires? He is from Normal,IL and may be interested in getting closer to home. What a great fit he would be!

He's been offered, hasn't committed yet.

Only if he was able to graduate in 3 years.

Are you saying Conditt has given a verbal commitment? I have not seen that news anywhere...

Haven't seen him in game, but the video didn't highlight athleticism. I find it hard to project how a big will develop, especially in Underwood's system, which I've only begun to acquaint myself with. His length is pretty darn good though, and that works on both ends of the floor. Would love to be a fly on the wall for their player evaluations. Just have to wait to see who we get and how they play.

I have also been confused by some posters mentioning his athleticism as a plus given that he is 6'11 and can barely dunk.

I think he has great balls skills for his size though and if he can gain the necessary strength required for a P5 athlete, lookout!

athleticism doesn't just mean he can jump. for his height he has good agility, runs well, looks to have good handle, those things all make him athletic as well. No he isn't a sky walker, but growing 3-4 inches in a couple months, along with still be 16 years old, he has time to get some more hops

He is definitely a fluid runner and is decently agile, but I still wouldn't call him a plus athlete. His age is definitely one thing he has going for him at this point.

Guess its who you compare him to, I wouldn't say he is a super athlete, but I would say he is above avg. if you look at everything he offers. He will be interesting to see how he grows over the next year.

He seems to be fast enough because he's taking the strides of a 6'11 guy. I don't really see quickness, burst, agility, and as was said, not really leaping ability. However he does seem supremely skilled for a 6'11 guy and I can definitely see how he fits in BU's offense with a higher ceiling than say Mike Finke, who is probably his best current Illini comparison. He would not be limited to the 5 spot in the half court which cause of a whole lot of matchup issues. Is a big gonna guard him on the perimeter? Takes a way a rim protector and has a guard in a playmaking spot offensively on the elbow. Or have a guard hound him on the perimeter until he cuts into a post up and shoots over him. Ideally he's more athletic, but I agree with bmo that's he's 16 and there's time to make it happen. I could see him peaking at like malcolm level athleticism at 6'11.

When I say shades of DJ Wilson, I really mean just shades of DJ Wilson.

Pretty good movement for a guy who has grown 4" (?) in the last year.

At this point, I don't think we have observed one athlete who has had a plateauing or decrease in strength or vertical. Everyone, especially young guys, have put on a noticeable amount of muscle and have seen their vertical jumps increase. Conditt seems like the perfect Fletcher project.

I say we get Greg Eboigbodin secured, then a commit from Conditt, 2 bigs, young but good upside...think we would be working on a young group needing a lot of time to be great.

Would be nice, would be even better if we have 4 ships in 18 and could get 2 bigs, then go after Ej and Okoro in 19. Just really will be nice to finish off this 2017 class and see them on the court

Grow as in as a player, filling out, might get taller , just will be fun to watch him grow all around, it can not hurt being his first power 5 offer, and the Chin factor, seems to be helping a lot with a lot of kids already

Fenwick took on Simeon in the first place bracket of the 2017 Riverside Brookfield Summer Shootout. The entire gym was packed as players, fans, and scouts alike had to get a look at a possible 2018 playoff preview in the 4A Class of the IHSA. The game was close throughout but in the end, Simeon pulled away to win 72-63. Talen Horton-Tucker led all scorers with 25, Messiah Jones added in 11, and Kejuan Clements had 12 for Simeon. DJ Steward finished with 21 and Damari Nixon had 18 to lead the Friars

Know we're not recruiting Kezo any more but we've been talking about Kezo since he was a freshman. Don't know how long this will keep him inactive but he already missed his sophomore year for reasons still undisclosed and only played 3 games this spring for the Fire before going down with either this injury or another injury. Hope Kezo has some good luck in the future.

Tough break for Simeon's Kezo Brown, one of the top 10 prospects in Illinois in Class of 2018, who has a torn ligament in his ankle.

I would love to see Miller commit, I know is a ways down the road till he steps on a collage campus, but would just really feel good about this kid doing it early

Has a kid ever stuck to a commit for 3 years prior to setting foot on campus?

for us ? The Rev maybe or Jereme Richmond seem like the earliest commits. But Baily committed to IU in 7th or 8th grade so yeah it happens

Yeah, Richmond was definitely about that early. He committed to Bruce before he even played a HS game.

BTW, did you all know he's playing in the Dominican Republic now?
