Need to take all the top 25 rated players coming out of high school and rate % drafted in any time frame for each school. If Kentucky has highest %, then they are a superior choice.

BOOM! Feed my ego.
Have to admit I love reading every year people fretting how to come up with scholarships for all the players we will have to turn away. GO ILLINI!!!!

It's hilarious. Every year UI seems to be scrambling to fill slots with warm bodies, yet every year here we are trying to figure out how to make room for everyone we want.

But I'm glad some fans are optimistic. Easy to be pessimistic these days.

Think you're missing Calvin's point. You can't establish a relationship if a school only had 3 guys drafted in the last decade. If their 4th guy gets drafted #1 it changes the data drastically.

Lets let this one go guys..

Sooo tempting to hash this out, but I will defer to the picture of Jon Stewart with the popcorn as the best response on the topic. Once someone hangs their hat on 'I'm an expert/teacher', is there any point in trying to engage on substance?

Mark Smith is a different level prospect than both those guys

Agree, but no telling if THT or another 4th year player becomes the must get while Kansas starys sniffing around. There will be that player not named Ayo. It could be Conditt or the field.

So does this mean this statistical/big data game of whip-out is over?

Props to whoever first made the Draymond comparison... I like that player comp a lot. THT is a bull to the rim, has great passing skills, is fiery, and plays defense with an attitude. I think I want him more than any other 2018 recruit...pairing him with MS excites me.

Every article/twitter reference that has been written about him recently indicates that he is from Peoria Manual. That is something that could easily be corrected by him or someone associated with him if he was planning on going to a different school.

The only indications that he is transferring have been from message boards such as this that often post inaccurate information. Other than that there has been nothing credible indicating that he will play anywhere besides Peoria Manual next year.

That video that was just posted references him as being from Peoria Manual. Again, if he was transferring then why not correct Mattson?

Definitely not going to manual

Definitely not going to manual

Is there a reason why?

Bloomington makes sense then. They will be the best team in Central Illinois for the next couple of years so I can't really blame him.

First time I watched a clip - lmao @ :30 when he jukes that poor dude. Moves pretty damn well for a bigger guy.

He’s optimistic about new Illinois coach Brad Underwood with the Illini.

“I’ve talked to Coach Underwood on several different occasions,” Anderson said. “We’ve had some great converstaion about what he’s trying to do with the program. I like what he’s talking about. The young men today like the uptempo kind of basketball. That’s the way he wants to play. Get shots up and play good defense. I’m going to get the word out to young men here, if that’s what you want to do, the University of Illinois is a great place to do that.”

I'm hoping for BHS too, closer to Champaign and still close enough to go see. Him and Payton there would be fun. Now if they could somehow get OKoro over there...

Okoro to BHS is a rumor that a buddy of mine(High School Coach) said is going around.

Yes, and actually the analysis is pretty solid, the data and scores do not only account for sheer number of players drafted, but also normalized for HS rankings (using 247), player busts (i.e., top-25 players not getting drafted), etc. It is really well done, especially if people take the time to inspect the analysis in the detailed spreadsheets provided (not just final tables). The best analysis I have seen on a very popular recruiting subject that has often been the center of discussion on this board, and many other, boards. Really deserves another read for people who have not seen it and kudos to Townie Matt for discovering it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBas...igh_school_hype_to_nba_stardom_which_schools/

I'm certainly no statistical analysis expert, but my take away from this is, if I'm not a top recruit out of high school, I'm looking at Lehigh and that nearly $110 million avg guaranteed contract:cool:

Certainly would not surprise me . Especially if Miller is on board. Would not be bad to have them playing together for a little bit in HS. Gives them a chance get used and comfortable playing together, and then hopefully they like playing together and want to translate it onto the court for the O&B.:shield:

Pretty sold on THT at this point. I think if he comes and gets after it with Fletch, he could go up another level. His finishing around the rim is incredibly advanced already. Anyone seen him live and have an opinion on how he is defensively?
