Would be nice to lock Castleton up. Great defensively and offense continues to improve as well. Lots of offers but not many P5. Let's hope distance isn't an issue. Really like his overall game.

this is just my opinion

He seems to be good at getting up and down the court, above avg. passer and ball handling for his size, does seem to have a nose for the ball when rebounding, seemed to be in the right spot even if he didn't always get the rebound. Looked to really need to get in better shape, both in putting on weight and seemed to be tired very fast. Was kind of hard to really tell a lot I thought his team played more for themselves, and other then Matic only number 15 seemed any good but I only sw the one game so who knows about that.

odds are we will need some mins from him this year, maybe if we land another big for 2018 we could let him sit out in 18 to get stronger, then turn around and do the same in 19 with who ever we land in 18

All in all I would say how good he ends up being will be mostly up to Fletch

Watched all 3 of his games at U20 so far, he is young so he has a lot of room for improvement, but he is very raw. Slovenia has quite a few players who have played better than Matic so far, so I disagree with the bolded. Needs to add major strength to play in B1G.

and you could very well be right, but as I stated I only saw the one game and in it only 15 out played him. but it was nice of you to make sure to only bold part of what was said.

And yeah he needs to add strength that's why I said ""All in all I would say how good he ends up being will be mostly up to Fletch""

Finke within the next few weeks.

I'm hopeful the staff is slow-playing him & he is now a plan B option. I've always thought he's been over-ranked. A solid player, but there are a few others more talented we're in good with.

Of course, if he does commit I'll be rooting for him as I do all of our guys:illinois:

Lower than plan B.

Hopeful for a class of Ayo, Stewart and Castleton/Conditt.

If I could pick that would be mine as well. then if we take 4, any of the others we are after would be great. I do agree as well that Big George might be a guy we regret not landing if he goes else where. I do not think we are going to slow play anyone that has an offer though, so its going to be a matter of who wants to be here first

I have watched them play 3 games now as well and would love to know who you think played better, other then 15? ? ? Number 5 has moments when he looks pretty good but I think its more because he is stronger and just bulls his way to the basket. but other then that he can not run or jump he doesn't rebound. I will stick to my guns on this one and if 15 was better wouldn't he be starting ??? I do agree he really needs to get stronger though and I do not see him playing the 5 for at the very least 2 years

Big day for Talen and a big transfer for Simeon. Catholic League losing their best players to public league. So far, Pinson, Chase Adams, Maurice Commander, Marquise Walker and one more whose name escapes me, it being too early in the AM for my memory to work properly.

Castleton or Conditt? Conditt's clips scream potential, but he's got rows to hoe, physically. Obviously, Conditt's competition is akin to the junior varsity. But he has skills one rarely sees in fives. I'm completely down with either one.

Both would seem to be guys that really fit this system but will need time to get B1G ready. If we can't get a true top player like De Sousa, I would be more than happy to take either of these and let them mature in this team as they have all the tools for it.

Matic's stat line from Spain game does not scream High Major prospect.

http://www.fiba.com/europe/u20/2017/1507/Slovenia-Spain#|tab=boxscore_statistics

I watched most of the second half of that game and the whole team was overwhelmed. Spain's defense on the pg was stifling and Slovenia appeared to be running a Pick and roll system without the horses to create or take advantage of mismatches created by the picks (sound familiar?).

Whether or not he's a high major I don't know, but he runs the floor well for a guy his size, and seemed to see the floor well and handle ok. He looks like he plays a 3/4 for Slovenia but I think he could do damage in the high post after a year of development in our offense, and maybe the perimeter after 2 years.

We know that Vesel is a project player, but I encourage you to wait to draw your conclusions. Spain is one of the strongest basketball countries in Europe and Slovenia is Slovenia... and they were just utterly outclassed from top to bottom.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know what the seedings were for this tournament, just going off of operating knowledge of European basketball.

I think we are going to be stuck with 2 years of post players that are going to take some time to get ready to make an impact at this level. Thankfully, we have Finke and Black to help ease that transition for 2 years, but it makes it that much more critical to land someone like Okoro and EJ in 2019 to make sure we can add some top talent to that group. Matic, Ebo, and someone like Conditt all seem like they could progress to be great pieces of this team but none seem to be ready to take on the B1G day one (most bigs aren't).

Wait, what? Ebo's making the BIG's All Frosh team. ;-)

Love his potential though. But, yeah, spot on w/your msg. Maybe we'll get very lucky that one of these young posts will excel from the get go, but expecting it is a bridge too far, IMO.

I'm partial to Castleton. To me it seems like he can do anything Conditt does, only more athletic.

JT was a 5 Tom Cruise recruit, IIRC. Maybe Robert will give them out more conservatively in the future.

(but I think Ayo would be worth 5 Tom Cruises)

At the time, JT was a huge deal! If re-evaluating today, I would guess 4.
