I absolutely can not wait for more player interviews and Fleth's tweets about the strength gains like he did last year

Underwood started the same 5 guys for 34 straight games in his first year at SFA.:)

Seems to give team stability when that happens. All situations are different, but, I do think we will have alot of guys averaging double figure PT and pts /gm. Different top scorer in many games, but Alstork should be able to be most consistent. :illinois:

And a :thumb: to you for getting your internet privileges back

I've watched a fair amount of video of Coach's teams now, and I think I'm following the reads and flow. I think there are many posters who are used to Groce's coaching, that are evaluating players off faulty assumptions. TBD how well we execute it, but I think he has a really coachable group here, and we'll get to watch some really good bball. Both Finke and Leron can shoot that elbow shot, for example, and we have perimter threats all over the roster. Really excited to see what they can do.

Like others have said, it's an agonizingly long off season.

Coach Underwood doesn't view it like most on here. He doesn't have a starting 5 he has 10 or 11 guys who will play in the game and he expects them to all be ready to play at a high level. [snip]I cant wait!!

We've heard and read about Positionless basketball

Now maybe Starterless basketball, in that there will be different starting lineup depending on circumstances.

Although as TCTORNADO pointed out, "Underwood started the same 5 guys for 34 straight games in his first year at SFA.". So probably not, but what about the other years? Or maybe he didn't have much choice in that first year?

BU's year 2 @ SFA only had 5 different starting lineups and year 3 he had 6 different starting lineups. Not very many.

Seems like a lot to me but I defer to your better knowledge about these things. And now that I think of it, I suppose it really isn't a lot as I believe many programs will use many different lineups at the beginning of the schedule during non-conference games to see what happens, etc. So, yeah, 5 or 6 isn't that much. I suppose it might be more telling to see what kind of lineup changes there are during conference play. Although in BUs case it doesn't look like many. On the other hand, my posit of starterless basketball was just half jest anyway. But if I turn out to be right I be a genius!

As a closer to home reference. Groce's number of different starting lineups.

016-017--9
015-016--14!!
014-015--7
013-014--2
012-013--5

Minutes

I think what we will find is that BU will have a relatively set starting lineup but ( injuries/ matchups) will of course dictate some change) and several non starters will see significant minutes including Frazier/ one of the new bigs/ and maybe AJ. I think it is still likely DW is a redshirt as he recovers but I know BU has indicated he will play. Hope he is right and I am wrong.

Look to me like Finke gonna put up some pts in the high post with all these drive and dish guards especially TJL.

The offense is made for him. BTW, in this video and watching him shoot in the background in the coach interviews from early in July, he has definitely changed the trajectory of his shot. Not nearly as flat as last year.

It is and he has. Good catch. Expecting big things from Finke, offensively.

Could watch that meeting at the rim between Leron and Smith on loop for about 10 minutes straight. Not the type of play we've seen much in the past...idk...decade? Props to the freshman for aiming to put one directly on an upperclassman, and props to Leron for packing it.

Just when I thought I couldn't get any more excited for the upcoming year....

- Leron blocking Smith is awesome. Love the Freshman trying to take it to the upperclassman. Wasn't a soft slam attempt by any means either
- OH MY EBO spin move
- Finke looks very comfortable at the high post spot

- Lastly, I love how competitive these guys seem to be. The Orange team getting pumped up with their win. Having these guys bring their best against each other is only going to help them all.

Ty for the video. Leron has come out of his shell, looks thick, and solid. Finke shot is much better. TJL passes right on the mark...all looks good. Hope we get more to see soon!!:illinois:
