I see us flipping the score from their first weeks game. 31-17 Illini.
Has there been any update on injuries sustained during the game (Kramer? others?)
Lovie: Wanted to be 1-0 after first weekend, and that's where we are. Really proud of the way we finished.
Lovie: Wanted guys to go through adversity and see how they responded, we did that. Character showed. Guys stepped up.
Lovie: With that being said, a lot of things to improve and we've started that process. Saw improvement throughout game
Lovie: Now, it's on to another good football team in WKU. Returning QB (Mike White) is a challenge.
Lovie: We have a few injuries. Won't talk in detail about them right now.
Lovie: Not sure on Jaylen Dunlap and guys who didn't play.
Lovie: We have a plan for OL that we feel good about. Won't comment on if Kramer will be available.
Lovie: OL didn't play as well as we need to this week.
Lovie: OL was in flux due to injuries but we need to be better despite that.
Lovie: Tough duty to play CB in general, but tougher for true freshmen. Handled themselves well. Hobbs had just 1 week of practice
Lovie: Dudek adds "excitment and big-play ability" to punt return game.
Lovie: Malik Turner fought injuries throughout training camp and had a big game
Lovie: When there weren't holes, Mike Epstein still made plays.
Lovie: Epstein film showed the speed. "When you meet him, you like him even more."
Lovie: It's our job to get the ball more to Mikey Dudek. A lot of playmakers to get the ball to
Lovie: Like all of us, Crouch wants to play better. But he made critical plays at the end.
Lovie: We know what we're getting each play in Chayce.
Lovie: Most improvement on team happens from Week 1 to Week 2. Hopefully our team does that.
Lovie mentions WKU as favorite. Said he doesn't use that as motivation. We have our own goals.
Lovie: QB Mike White is mobile but more of a pro-style QB. They use a lot of formations, shifts. More traditional-style attack.
Lovie: Del'Shawn had a lot of tackles, but he left some on the field.
Lovie: Tymir Oliver "shows up with his lunch pail each day. Good start for him. He'll even get better."
I saw in the box score that Eastern threw the ball 48 times, yet WKU recorded only one sack. Is there hope for the Illini offensive line or does Eastern just throw a bunch of quick hitters? Looked like neither team had much success running.I was at Westerns first game against EKU, and you were right they were less than impressive. Dont know to chalk that up to first game under new coach, saving stuff for Illinois, or if they are not as good as in years passed. They were missing two key offensive weapons that they will get back week 2. There major weakness is their offensive line, the defense struggled last week in the 2nd half as well. I think as of right now, WKU is the better team.
WKU- 34
ILL- 28

WKU wasn't overly impressive their first week against Eastern Kentucky. Winning 31-17.
If we shut down their WR Lucky Jackson, and see some improvement with our offensive line - we win by two touchdowns.
