 Muh bad. Not the place for me to go through my WKU resume, thought i had read that somewhere I was wrong. You could have just said that...
You maybe right on the play calling by Sanford in game one. Still I was concerned of secondary play in 2nd half against EKU. Though Illinois offense is definitely not something to be afraid of yet. (Though Dudek could be in store for a nice game)

Go Tops
Go Illini (next week)

To be fair to the WKU secondary. If you do not get much pressure on the QB. Any QB with decent accuracy can pick a secondary apart. The EKU QB is a FBS transfer from UConn and was surprisingly very accurate on short and medium range throws. And we did not really blitz against the Colonels. Making any pressure we got on the QB a result of pressure from the 4 man front.

Add to that Senior defensive leader Marcus Ward at safety only played a few minutes then got replaced by a freshman early in the game. He should be back and ready to go against Illini as well. Missed all of 2016 with an injury.

Thanks for posting, Big Red en Español. For years, ILLWKU has claimed to be a WKU fan, giving insight from the WKU perspective. (If I recall correctly, he's a researcher there.) Thank you for informing us that he is not just misinformed on one position on the team, but actually a fraud! Who would have known? I appreciate the insight from a real WKU fan.

Good thing the coaching staff and administration aren't as hard on the players as the fans are on each other. For Illini fans not in the know, seven student-athletes (about 8% of the football players on scholarship at the time of the incident, including seniors) were indicted by a grand jury, including a felony charge for four of the players, related to an incident where the football players punched and kicked a 33 year old alum. One student-athlete transferred to Eastern Kentucky, the rest were given a one game suspension.

Illinois' James Crawford was given an equally harsh suspension for breaking team rules. The reason has not been officially published, but real Illini fans believe he was five minutes late volunteering at the soup kitchen. Boys will be boys, but Coach Lovie Smith expects better from his seniors.

You mentioned Quinton Baker and Xavier Lane (both of whom entered guilty pleas to the amended charges of complicity to wanton endangerment, second degree; and complicity to assault, fourth degree, under extreme emotional disturbance in a plea deal to avoid the more serious charges of complicity to wanton endangerment, first degree (a felony); complicity to assault, fourth degree; and criminal trespass, third degree), but I'm more concerned with Chris Johnson (pending charges of criminal trespassing, third degree, although the Chicago papers did not cover the August 22 court date). He was a 2016 All-Conference USA Honorable Mention and could be a real problem for the inexperienced offensive line.

ESPN Football power index has us at a 57.2% chance to win.

It's a lock then, right?

Yes there were WKU players indicted. However, all charges will be dropped to a misdemeanor. There are two sides to every story. While what the players involved in the incident did was wrong they were not completely at fault for this incidents. A WKU football player was jumped and beaten up by several members of the Pike fraternity the night before. A few of his teammates learned of the incident and went back to try to even the odds. The 33 year old alum is a piece of work who has had run ins with WKU football players in the past. Using a taser on one several years ago. He is one of those guys who graduates and then still parties with college kids in his 30's. That does not condone anything the players did. 5 vs 1 is never a fair fight.

I was at Westerns first game against EKU, and you were right they were less than impressive. Dont know to chalk that up to first game under new coach, saving stuff for Illinois, or if they are not as good as in years passed. They were missing two key offensive weapons that they will get back week 2. There major weakness is their offensive line, the defense struggled last week in the 2nd half as well. I think as of right now, WKU is the better team.

WKU- 34
ILL- 28

It's Mike White vs. our young secondary. I think WKU covers.

Haha my bad. And I corrected myself on it about 3 times too :thumb: . I knew it was spelled different than Champagne. Should have used google.

How is your field goal kicker ? Can he bomb them from afar with accuracy or just the opposite. Please advise if you could be so kind.

From 40 yards in he is pretty accurate. From above 40 yards who knows. He is 2 of 3 above 40 yards in his career and hit a 44 yarder last Saturday with plenty of room to spare. But that isn't enough of a sample to know for sure. He beat out last seasons starting kicker in fall camp who was an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention and on preseason 2017 Lou Groza Award Watch List.

Great Information many thanks.

The Line is Hilltoppers favored by 7.5 points to 8.0 points. Field goal kicking becomes an important formula with a line that high to factor in.

B-U-T-FUL

It is going to be a beautiful day on Saturday. Can't wait to get there early and start cooking (and possibly drinking) with friends. If the game is as good as the weather, we're in for a special evening.

Hope to see lots of folks out there enjoying being out there together.

Quick question for those who go to more games at MS than I do.

I got tickets for me, my brother, and my niece for tomorrow night. Section 105, row 8. Will that be high enough to see over the heads of the opposing team on the east sideline? I remember 1 game I went to several years ago where all i could see were a bunch of stupid gophers in their stupid unis. : )

I had seats in row 14 for years and we always thought that we wouldn't want to be any lower.
