Northwestern favored to pick up a top 100 wing from Houston at noon.

2018 wing Miller Kopp is announcing his college choice at 12:00 CT, he tells Scout. Kopp took visits to Butler, Northwestern & Texas A&M.

Northwestern grabs him.

I found it very interesting that NW did not make the final 11 for Ayo or final 13 for THT.

But I do think it is very funny.:D

By all accounts it seems to be UI vs VT for Nolley. Anyone that thinks VT is in the south needs to invest in a map. So either there is a stealth school out there or people don't know what they are talking about.

It isnt important whether Virginia is in the south its wheter Nolley feels like Virginia is in the south.

Sometimes facts dont trump opinion.

Anyone who thinks Virginia is not in "The South" needs to invest in a history book.

#Illini fans: Curie people in contact w/Landers Nolley say he’ll stay in the south for college. For same reasons he returned after soph yr.

Ugh. Let's say this is legit, so it'd be Georgia or Georgia St? That seems like a bad call for his NBA prospects. Mark Fox is not a good coach and Georgia St was using RJ Hunter as an example of how they develop players butttt he's struggling for training camp invites.

Anyone who thinks O'Brien ever knows what he's talking about needs to stop letting him troll you.

Virginia is definitely the South. However, in the minds of people from some of the most southern states Virginia is not in the South. I know people in Florida who don't consider North Carolina as being in the South. I know people in Marion, IL who don't think Mt. Vernon, IL is Southern Illinois. Something about them darn southerns, proud over how close to the equator they live. I really doubt Landers is considering US History when talking about the South.

Sorry, but nobody knows Chicago high school kids and coaches better than O'Brien. Not Henricksen, not anybody on this board or any other board. The guy has gone to Chicago and Chicago-area games and tournaments for 5 and 6 nights a week every season for over 15 years. It's easy to dismiss him because he does take shots at Illinois now and again, but he doesn't make stuff up. If he says he hears something, he hears it. He's the main journalist left in Chicago who concentrates on high school sports, is consistently supportive of Chicago high school sports and they appreciate that.
So, knowing him a little and knowing Chicago area high school sports people a lot, I trust him when he says things like that, or that he's heard Ayo and THT probably won't play together -- or when he said DJ would never make it at Illinois and everybody jumped on him for that.
He'll be the first to admit he doesn't care about or know about college basketball but he is very passionate about high school ball and the kids who play it.

Its all a matter of perspective. When discussing we would be visiting Vanderbilt with my son, one friend of ours said "what a great school, but it's a very southern school." She was from the south and was not speaking geographically.

While actually on the trip, a student mentions he loved the school, but it is kinda a northern school  he was from Texas,

Back to recruiting, I'm getting a slight Elijah Thomas feel to this recruitment. Are we fans getting played by Nolley?

I don't disagree with you, but if you listen to him and Henricksen's podcast, MOB frequently admits that he doesn't follow recruiting all that closely. He's a high school guy. I don't doubt for a second that he's heard this from Curie folks, but I also wouldn't put too much stock in it.

Same guy that said Ayo wouldn't be a top 10 player if he wasn't playing for who he's playing for?

You are consistently wrong on just about everything. Henrickson is 10x the evaluator and basketball mind O'brien is.

I'm sure Nolley texted Kedric just yesterday morning but Illinois is out of it. Makes sense.

That's what I'm saying. People on here and other boards say he either doesn't know what he's talking about or makes stuff up just to troll Illinois fans. Neither is true. But people like to kill the messenger and I understand that.
PS - With the way LN's recruitment has shimmied all over the place the last two weeks I don't put a lot of stock in much of anything I hear about it.

This. It is more the perspective I was hinting at. I'm from Texas, went to grade school in Nashville, TN, then high school in central IL, and of course college at our beloved :illinois:.

Peoples perception of north vs. south is so different depending on where you are located.

And now it appears that it was all noise, as I originally thought.:illinois:

I said nothing about evaluating except the comment about DJ that MOB was right on. I said when he says something he's "HEARD" he's heard it.
I know both of these guys and even Joe would tell you nobody knows Chicago kids and what they're saying and doing like Mike does. And Mike would agree about Henricksen being the better evaluator. As MOB just wrote to one of the Illini fans who jumped him about this tweet.

And now the Jerry Meyers CB to VT. I refuse to meltdown. :) Gonna stick with Cash's two cents until Landers comes out with it. (unless of course Michigan turns its evil eye our way like the top of that tower in Lord of the Rings)

I'd put exactly zero faith in crystal balls unless they are within hours (or maybe days) of a commitment. A couple people have indicated VT momentum and he has an upcoming visit to VT. It's just Meyer swapping so that if he commits on the visit, he was right, and if he waits until his actual stated commitment date, he can swap before the actual commitment.

Crystal. Balls. Are. Dumb.
