Andrew Slater generally knows his stuff, especially when it concerns the ACC (VT).

His CB are usually only accurate within hours of an actual commit...little birdie or whatever. He does not have track record of predicting accurately to far in advance. FWIW:chief:

Still think we end up with Nolley, Conditt, Ayo, .....+1 in that order.

He's rarely wrong on his predictions. This is likely as close to a lock for VT as it gets. So ... Underwood & staff better work extremely hard to find another wing (THT?!?) because Nolley probably ain't comin'.

Crystal Balls were 9/20 at 12:09 AM to Illinois (guy has 62.5% accuracy)
Next was 9/20 7:24 PM to Illinois (77.1% accuracy)
then there's Andrew Slater to VT at 8:46 PM - and his accuracy is 74.5%

This hardly looks like a "lock" to me? and I like Landers interactions with the WBB players - i'm no insider - but i'm hopeful that it'll be :shield:

I’m pretty sure this VT stuff for Nolley is nothing more than over analyzing his visit timeline. He had VT as his last visit before Halloween commit date, moved up his commit date, and has now moved up his VT visit. I’m not convinced that means anything other than he wants to visit VT before he commits somewhere.

I love the drama of anticipation, but I wish the recruiting thread was more about discussing player abilities and less about predicting the future.

Does it make sense to have a Recruiting Predictions thread?

Conditt is scheduled to announce before Nolley, but that could change at any time with all the ups and downs of LN's recruitment...

I think we're 50/50 with Nolley and Conditt, and I'd put our odds at ~35-40% for Ayo. I know everything has sounded good with Ayo, but we've gone through this too many times to assume we have better odds than the field to land a recruit of his caliber. I always expect a recruit to choose another school, and be pleasantly surprised otherwise.

Simeon's Talen Horton-Tucker, set to visit #Michigan today, says he will be trimming list, setting up remaining visits very soon.

Hoping we can snag a visit. Original list was 13.

Hopefully he just cuts it down to 5, and doesn't fool around.

So the knock on Groce is that he didn't have any backup plans and now it's a concern because Underwood has one?

Not meant to be a knock whatsoever. Simply an observation that looking at a backup this late in the game is generally not a good sign of where you sit with your current priority targets. Had we shown interest in this guy months ago, I'd have no concern at all. Doing it now makes me wonder where we really stand with Conditt and Castleton.

With Castleton I think it's a bonafide toss-up and a tough decision for the young man. I think Conditt ends up ISU because of family pressure. If I were 'crooting I'd be looking down the list, too.

LOL... seems like the usual pessimistic Illini fans are starting to show up. Every day we don't get a verbal, it will continue to grow.

I'm putting my faith in Underwood. He'll get it done.

I'll be concerned if we're combing the Euro market 5 months from now to desperately plug gaps because we whiffed on our top wing and big prospects. Until then, let it ride.

I, too, believe Underwood will get it done. But I actually think it'll be a few years before we get big time recruiting classes. I see this materializing more akin to John Beilein's tenure at Michigan than an instant turnaround like Gottfried at NC State. I'll take the slow-but-steady approach over the start-out-fast-before-flaming-out approach any day.

Granted, I don't see Underwood needing 4-5 years like Beilein did. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got fairly modest recruiting results early on until he starts winning on the court.

#Illini fans: Curie people in contact w/Landers Nolley say he’ll stay in the south for college. For same reasons he returned after soph yr.

So Georgia State? According to his current bracket I think it will be down to FSU, ILL, VT, and Georgia State.

He is releasing his final four tonight, wonder if there will be any changes to the bracket.

Will be interesting to see who makes the cut.

I don't think that BU and assts. will strike out on their top 5-6 targets considering how they recruited in the spring. We don't have the back story on the recruiting process, they might be slow playing a couple of them as well.
