I understand the Spring signing period. Ayo is not the type to hold out until then. I'm tired of the pretend insiders. Of course these guys are signing in the fall.

And you can read Ayo's mind now? Or do you have some kind of information that says he isn't that type of person and will sign in the Fall, making you one of these "insiders"?

Honestly, no one really knows for sure except Ayo, probably his family, and possibly some coaches and/or close friends.

Relax, dude. Not every statement has to be taken so seriously. We are just here to talk hoops!

If my memory serves me right, aren't there several MIF, MP and Irvin players and recruits who tend to drag out their recruitment efforts to help expose other players in both organizations to college coaches? If one commits, coaches tend to slowly disappear from practices, games, etc.

Let me introduce you to, get this... the Spring signing period. I believe his point is that Ayo would not be waiting until the Spring.

Yeah, I agree. Seems like he's trying to get it done now, but he's also said he has no timetable other than to commit when he knows which one it will be. He's RSCI top 25, and 247 has him as the #1 guy in the state. That's high enough that most programs would consider holding a spot for him, and he'd certainly have teams still with openings going after him in the spring.

I don't really care when, just so long as it's :illinois:

Reminds me a ton of Jimmer Fredette.
That didn't take long to get a hyperbolic comparison. He doesn't look as prone to taking circus shots and is more explosive.

He is, however, pretty shifty in these clips, like everyone's favorite Mormon almost-NBA player.

Yes. He can ball.

He can certainly shoot -- made close to 100% of his shots in those videos! -- but his competition doesn't look so good, at least in the U17 video. Still, I trust the recruiters, and if Arizona and Antigua are both interested, I'm good with that.

I'd rather sign two wings in this class than two bigs, so if we have a legit shot at Elias, go for it.

Jimmer? Kid is 6'6" and was posting up. He reminds me of Hezonja, the kid the Orlando Magic took top 5 a few years ago

Underwood agrees. Problem is Conditt is in position to decide before any of their top targets and it's not like they're going to deny him a commitment. They're essentially delaying him themselves by not pushing anything.

I'd rather have both. If we can't have THT, the Finn is an awfully good consolation prize.

This kid has his own Wikipedia page. He may be off the radar to us but he's got some press coverage this summer and attention from the likes of Arizona. If OA gets him to Illinois, it will be a major coup. You have to be impressed with the effort our staff is making.

The U17 video is from competition in the U17 Fiba Championships in 2016, against Canada, France, China, etc. It is the highest level of U17 competition in the world, Canada had both RJ Barrett and ignas Brazdeikis on their team. Competition does not look so good? C'mon... He led the Finnish team in scoring with 14.1 ppg, also recording 4.4 rpg and 2 apg.
