I see the point you are trying to make. But that was also my thought. Who doesn't fit on that list.

We certainly fit. We have a world class coaching staff, facility upgrades, a dedicated AD, a shift in commitment from the university in regards to Athletics, a world class institution, and a ravenous (Although annoying at times) fan base. I-L-L

Oh.... and playing time. Lots and lots of playing time

That is great company to be in, however, all I could hear was that old child's song....one of these things is not like the other, one of these things is not quite the same....

Yep. The Texas Longhorns is the only one with a losing record so far in 2017.

I-N-I

Seriously, this is a nice testament to Lovie and his staff's recruiting efforts, even if they don't get him.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, I used to be that way too. I hope your enthusiasm bleeds throughout Illini nation and we get a team that stacks up with your passion!

Only reason i'm this enthusiastic is because i can honestly say these things with truth. We're finally acting like a power 5 team.

All we need are wins baby!!! We've got, or are in the process of getting, everything else. Why not start acting like we belong?

Is he as accurate a passer as that makes him appear? He was hitting his guys in full stride.

My son's high school team played Peoria this summer in a 7 on 7. As you all know, the QB can't run in these games, so he has to throw. Yes, he is accurate with a strong arm and can throw about 65 yards, give or take a few.

Will we ever get the real story if one party can't discuss?

What temperature are the columns now?

Unfortunately no. Maybe down the road when it really doesn't matter anymore. Even if the staff had a perfectly legitimate reason for pulling the offer.

Do we even know for sure that the commitment was even really accepted? Were there UI announcements to the effect that his commitment was accepted? I don't follow football very closely and may have missed something. Just asking....

Coaches cannot comment on verbal commits, or offers being accepted, only signed LOI

I'm sure there's more to the story and people in the recruiting world probably know what it is. Lovie is an honorable man and I'm sure he did nothing dishonorable here. In Lovie I Trust.

Cmon, we all know what happened here. MJ Rivers committed and now we had 3 committed quarterbacks, probably one to many in what will be a smaller class, so the biggest project qb had his scholarship pulled. Happens often in big boy programs and yesterday it happened here. Can't have it both ways, if we want to be a big time program these things are going to happen. Not saying I like it or agree with it, but that's the way it is.

Is he really the biggest "project" qb? I was initially thinking the same thing, but calibear had him rated higher than Rivers. I know that doesn't necessarily mean that the staff has the same opinion. In any case, was Rivers that big of a step up that you do this to one of your commits?

I can come up with a bunch of hypotheticals on why this happened. In the end, Littlejohn is better off with a program that has more faith in his abilities. I can also understand his frustration of feeling disrespected and mislead.

My understanding was not he was the lowest rated QB by all the recruiting services-for what that's worth. Probably more telling is that he had by far the least impressive offer sheet as far as what other schools had offered scholarships/were interested. I believe that is a pretty solid indicator. Not to discount Cali's evaluation, but next best offer for Littlejohn right now is Tulane, MJ's is Iowa State.

I know this probable happens more often than we think, and that we have a small class this year and can't really "waste" a scholarship. But I still don't like the looks of it. And we better fill all those available scholarships now, otherwise it's gonna look worse. If we don't, then the questions becomes, "why not keep him and add to the QB competition and/or try to have him switch positions?"

I liked Littlejohn a lot that being said I had a small drop in my rating from 7.5 to 7.25 after seeing his early senior tape. That is still there with the other 2. I wonder if this implies Taylor is academically sound now.
I do know there are a lot of other position that need help so I have mixed thoughts on this.

Pretty much this. Class is going to be larger than initially projected (>= 22?), but still. The only logical conclusion is the staff feels more comfortable that Taylor will qualify and that Littlejohn is behind Taylor and Rivers. Feel for the kid, but this is par for the course in D1 football.

I feel the same way. I was surprised when Littlejohn committed since he was "offered" back in February and then we heard little to nothing about him from that point until he committed.

The staff talks a lot about how seriously they view verbal commitments and how they expect the kids to honor them. I hope there is more to this story otherwise why should the kids be expected to honor their commitments?

I feel bad for him because like he said, it's embarrassing. He now has to go through the recruiting process all over again.

Any chance we just gave him a deadline to commit, and he committed after? Then with our coaches not being able to speak publicly on it, they were like "Hey man, your window to commit closed, what are you doing?"

That's possible. However, like Littlejohn said, they accepted his commitment, allowed him to post his commitment all over social media and he had an official visit set up.

If they didn't want him to commit then they should have communicated this to him or put a stop to this weeks ago.
