Chicago Cubs 2017 Season

Was traveling. Just got done watching the game.

I believe it was Ben Franklin who said, “The DVR is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Or maybe he said that about beer. Either way, i’ve enjoyed both this evening.

The Professor taught a master class tonight. Weakly hit ground ball after weakly hit ground ball.

You just knew - KNEW! - Rizzo was going to knock that run in when Dusty decided to let Madson pitch to him. That was a freaking masterpiece of an at bat.

I really like how the rest of this series lines up with the Cubs’ lefties going the next two games against the Nats’ lefty batters.

That was a masterpiece, a Picasso, but a masterpiece nonetheless. You never feel completely comfortable with Hendricks on the mound, but it was a frickin two hitter! Awesome way to start!

I'm curious as to why people feel this way. Is it because he tops out around 86-88 mph? This season in particular I've felt most comfortable with him on the bump.

I’m very comfortable with KH pitching . The past 6-8 weeks , more so with him than with Lester or Jake . Both of our former aces are not the same right now .

Anyone else re watch the play where Contreras plunks Zimmerman in the back and think maybe it was intentional ? WC is a sniper with that arm and I think just maybe he figured it was the easy out .

I think it was intentional but I think that is what catchers are taught. If the runner can't stay in his lane and is in play just drill and get the out call for interference. If catcher tries to adjust his throwing angle and throws it away I don't know if they get the call then.

I agree with you .

For many reasons , you just don’t see it done very often .

Gotta question Maddon’s handling of the bullpen on that one. Can’t believe he didn’t bring in Montgomery to face Harper and then Davis to face Zimmerman.

Sitting here watching there game on DVR, and I said to a friend, "oh here comes Edwards, he'll probably give up the game." Turned it off after he gave up the homer to tie it. I do not like Edwards as a pitcher.

Funny you're the guy with the location near DC rooting for the Cubs and I'm the guy (kinda but not really) near Chicago rooting for the Nationals.

Last night stung, but I am very happy leaving DC with a split. Quintana versus Scherzer should be a dandy tomorrow night.

I am not a big fan of railing on Managerial decisions, for the most part I think Maddon does a solid job and second guessing moves that are made after the results decided is pretty weak...

That said :)D), the second Maddon made the move to replace Quintana with Strop, the run from 3rd was as good as scored. Quintana was pitching great at that point, the Cubs bullpen outside of Davis is extremely suspect. You gotta let Quintana work out of the jam.

Thanks Schwarbs, thanks Maddon. :(

14 years later, Dusty Baker atones for leaving Mark Prior in too long by pulling Max Scherzer too soon.

Almora ties it up!

Every fan base second guesses their clubs skipper.

But we had Dusty & we know his bonehead moves . I’ll take Maddons occasional suspect moves all day Vs Dusty

Unsung hero of the series so far: Addison Russell. He’s been a vacuum cleaner out there.

That was an incredible play to rob Taylor of a sure single.

Last month my brother and I were discussing Russell's position of the future. I think Baez will helm SS in 2018 and on with Russell at 2B, but who's to say.

Just watched the recap highlights. I need to sign up for whatever it is that Wade Davis does to keep himself so calm. Game in, game out, he lives up to his "Wadebot" nickname.

I love the position we are in .

Sure , I wish we won it 3-0, but I feel we beat their 2 best , all while our bats being rather silent most of the time .

I tip my cap to Nats pitchers . But our guys have been equally as tough on their hitters . Cub killers Murphy & Harper have been basically neutralized , save Harper's dinger . He hasn't done much otherwise .
