IU is currently the 4th best program in their own state :D

Not saying they can't get back to Blueblood status soon, given their name and pedigree, but. Does blueblood / Storied Program status ever get revoked? Because if anyone has spent over a generation not living up to its own name, it's IU.

That won't last long, though. IU will be the premier team in their state within 3 years, and they'll likely stay there. Archie is a really solid coach, and IU has the tradition and a whole lot of state loyalty to stock up on great Indiana recruits -- and recruit nationally.

I certainly agree that they are very, very clearly below Duke, Carolina, UK, UCLA, and Kansas on that blue blood list, and over the past 15 years, below the likes of Louisville, Michigan State, UConn, Arizona, and others. But just as Notre Dame football has huge potential with the right coach, I think IU can get back into that national conversation with the right guy. And Archie might be it.

Was just watching some THT highlights, and just kept thinking how much I want to see what Fletch can do with him

I'd love to see Underwood & Co. pull in THT. Not only would he be a great add to the team and clamp down on Chicago, but maybe it would quiet down the "Underwood keeps missing, other first year coaches are recruiting, woe is me" people.

Lol if they're still complaining after Ayo, I say let em holler.

Anthony? Doubt we'll even make his first cut, much less be a finalist.

Doesn't the staff have a connection to his family? Gotta imagine UI gets some play in his recruitment if true. At least a courtesy visit to give them a chance to sell him.

It's my understanding that we have 5 scholarships available for '19.

Presumably thinking, we would not take 5 bigs in that class alone, and given our guard & wing depth, and the Mark Smith & Ayo factor of possibly going pro... I would call it more than an educated guess that we could take another pg in '19.

No way we would EVER pass on Cole Anthony iether..

EJ, Okoro, and Whitney, give you players that can fill the 3-5 spots. Add another true big & a pg, and that's one hell of a need filling and well balanced class! :shield:
They could take one every year and Mark or Ayo(unlikely but possible) could definitely be gone after that season. They honestly don't need a guard for next year. The four of Smith, Dw, Lucas, Frazier could make it work with Jordan getting whatever is left over(if he is still there next year). I expect to see 3 guards playing at all times. Ayo represents someone that you can't pass up and he checks so many boxes. That made him a must get.

Don't need guards IMHO for '19. Would love those 3 as listed, especially with development of bigs on board.
They are loaded on the perimeter. Some wanted Ayo, THT, and Nolley along with the players already on the roster. I see a minutes crunch next year without even considering THT.

We are not getting Anthony. However, I'd guess Ayo really helps us with kahlil Whitney. That guy is just a stud. Big time athlete with size and skill.

If y'all wanna see THT in an Illini uni and you're in town, get your rear end to Ubben tomorrow. Gotta bring it one more weekend.

This is 4th visit, if I count correctly.
GT, X, ISU and now UI.
Is it also his last?
Good timing, if so.

How long before Illinois is listed in the same breath???

After 30 or 40 years of consistent top 10 ranking and tourney success with a few titles thrown in.

Probably the best to hope for would be the Louisville, MSU type level.

Let's go MSU and skip the UL.
