43% of his crystal ball projections are to teams he has already eliminated including one team that didn’t make his top 7.

Right. CBs are mostly a marketing gimmick, except very late. That report last night of a CB for THT was perfect: omitting "to ISU," because it wasn't relevant? lulz Double lulz for biting! Gimmick, to be sure, but brilliant, nevertheless.

I'm prepared for THT to go elsewhere, but won't be shocked if he chooses us. We have a lot of things in our favor and we've been given the opportunity to emphatically state our case. The biggest strike against us is playing time competition, at least early. We'll find out soon enough.

ISU is doing more damage to us than Cuonzo Martin.

I don't know about that. Losing Tilmon was a bigger deal that both Griffin and Conditt going there. If they add THT, then I guess that may be getting close, but I just don't see Conditt as a huge loss at this point. But losing a 5 star big commit was pretty bad. They also took Pickett too (although I doubt he was ever going to play much here behind the guard depth we have- basically a wash with Conditt).

(read anything into no cartoon for us?):eek::hand::huh::)
Maybe it seems obvious, but my guess is that since reports say THT wasn't all that impressed with his unofficial to UI last summer, he didn't expect much from UI. Then the staff convinced him to take an OV. Meanwhile, he had someone doing the art for his final 3, 2 or however many. After the weekend, he came away much more impressed with UI (per Kedric's tweet quote) and we made his top 3. Unfortunately, he didn't have that art prepared, so he went with the fine pic of him wearing #25 that the staff likely used this past weekend to sell him on.

None of that means we lead or trail or are even or anything. I'm just reading the timeline and taking a guess at why the UI #25 is a pic and the others are art.

I do love seein that #25 though...#legend

Been long and extremely strong on THT for a long time. Really want to buy into this CB nonsense. lol

Mom's going to be able to see a lot more games in CU. He fits the scheme like a glove. C'mon, THT!!!

I've read his mother is moving to Atlanta.

A friend asked me this weekend if I thought we had any chance with THT and I told him the chances were slim and Nunn. I think he would rather wear the number 5 on his jersey instead of 25. I hope to be wrong.

Never thought THT would be an illini. In my mind, that position was fortified by Ayo's comment that Ayo would do whatever role assigned to Ayo by the Coaches (in recruiting THAT) - which I translated to mean none.

I think this visit was a check list visit. And both sides were somewhat aware of it.

For what it is worth.

As much as we like the tradition of #25 for a Simeon grad at Illinois, no coach is going to make the kid wear a number he doesn't want. You force a kid into a tradition he's not interested in if that's the only thing keeping the recruit from picking you.

So, on official visits, do they always stage photos with in jerseys/gear etc. for the athletes? Sometimes I wonder if this is a request of the player for any potential announcement pieces?

I think it was something kids liked to do so it's scheduled into visits now. I remember seeing an itinerary a kid put out on social media (may have been Nolley), and "Photo shoot" was on there.

Always kind of liked Iowa State, but damn ... their fans are almost as delusional as Wake Forest's. Why is there this strange disdain for the Fighting Illini on boards of fans that we literally never encounter in real life. I think one fan on their board actually said THT would be a "big fish in a small pond" at Illinois ... we could be bad for the next 20 years and still have a much better history, much bigger fan base, much bigger media presence and much bigger stage than Iowa State. That's not being a hater, they're just already a little brother in a tiny state in a conference with less national exposure than the Big Ten. Also, I am TOTALLY willing to admit that the Illini brand has suffered since 2008, and we need to prove ourselves again to regain the respect we were all used to enjoying, but jeez ... how can fans be THIS baffled when an instate recruit is at least somewhat enticed by the idea of making Illinois basketball good again? Playing for an Illini program that's a contender >>>>>>>>>>> playing for an Iowa State program contender if you grew up in Illinois; the battle is just convincing the recruits that we have the pieces to get back, and it doesn't take an Illini homer to think we are headed in the right direction. Rant over.

Why do these recruitment battles always become a battle of the fan bases? THT is going to make a decision. I am confident BU and staff put their best foot forward and THT's decision will have nothing to do with whether Iowa State is the "little brother in a tiny state."

I spent some time living in Iowa... can definitively say that ISU fans suffer from a serious inferiority complex. Their sports teams have been scrappy and exciting to watch, but as fans they find themselves punching up to the likes of Iowa and most other BXII programs. They probably deserve more respect as a basketball program, but KU exists. As a release valve for the shade that gets thrown to them, they're unusually toxic fans.

I have no beef with ISU fans. Don't feel targeted by them - they're just acting the way they always have.

and yet I have a friend in Chicago who told me that as of two weeks ago they still haven't talked since THT left the Fire and Mike Irvin went on a twitter tantrum towards him.

Before the "we didn't want him anyway" chants get too loud, remember, the coaches clearly want him. It wasn't a check list visit for them. 6'5" athletic guys that can handle the ball and score and are physically ready for the big ten don't grow on trees.

He would be a good get for the staff. I'm sure whatever beef Mike Irvin has with him would not affect Ayo in the least if he was his teammate at Illinois. When you become teammates all of that is water under the bridge.

Since some use Twitter to draw all of their conclusions, I’ll just add that THT started following Ayo on Twitter in addition to a few other Illini guys including BU’s son.
