I don't see how continuing this narrative/ rumor/ drama helps in any way.

Maybe the next poster should just keep it in the holster.

For those worried about all the uproar, I'm going to quote my father-"You been smokin' that sh*t again, boy?"

Exactly.

Here's the deal. If THT commits to Iowa State or Xavier, then we can speculate until we're blue in the face that some adult drama drove the decision. (even then, there's no point to such speculation, but whatever)

Until then, I think we have other things we can discuss.

I say it's time to stop trying to figure out if there's anything in Capone's vault in regards to Ayo and THT. It's quite possible THT was merely frustrated with a lack of looks and felt Ayo had the ball in his hands as the PG (naturally), and perhaps felt the MIF coaches allowed that to be the case. Maybe, just maybe, he made a move to showcase his skills better, afterall; that's what AAU/travel is all about. Perhaps Ayo was the perceived scapegoat as the PG and ball handler.

Who knows, probably just THT knows the truth. In either case, it's all water under the bridge and he very likely knows where he's headed. I'm pretty sure the staff did their diligence, knows as well, and have assured both players what their roles will be on the Illini, and that there will be a plethora of opportunity for each of them. Furthermore, they're walking into a very talented team with plenty of mouths to feed, but also plenty of chances for them to shine along with the talent.

I just can't see a scenario of the staff not diving into this, and wouldn't be recruiting both if it were a potential cancer. I just hope THT feels great enough about the pitch and is all in and ready to jump onboard!

I agree completely. We have discussed this silly topic more than enough. :deadhorse:

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Wake boards leading up to and immediately after the Ayo decision. Does anyone have a link to the best Iowa State and/or Xavier boards? Thanks!

Was this a switch like Jerry Meyer, or is this his first guess on this recruit?

We now have more balls than ISU!

Keep reading the Wake board, they are still talking about us.

They have "The official LOL @ Illinois Thread". You gotta be big time butthurt to start a thread with that name.

Ok, Illini recruiting guru's, give us the last time we had two big time Chicago recruits commit in the span of 7 days!?!?

Here is the Iowa State board:

The fans there seem pretty sane. The Wake fans might have been sane as well, but they all seem to be under the influence of a mild hallucinogen before they post, so it is hard to be sure.

So by 8pm Thursday evening, BU just might have his 3rd recruit since becoming HC last winter. All three come from our home state of ILLINOIS. Arguably, they may be the three best players to come out of the state over the past two years.

At the risk of being redundant....."That's what it's all about! That's the winning formula.
Protect the borders. Recruit Chicago. Complement with the occasional 4* or 5* from out-of-state."

Wouldn't that sort of spoil the suspense?

What about if THT says, "I'm committing to..." and the Ayo comes out wearing a white Illini polo with another in hand then gives it to THT?

And then we all have a good laugh.

God, this would be a huge get and REALLY get some optimism around this program again ... we need to have the attitude that of COURSE an Illinois recruit would be an Illini. Misses under Groce or Weber or really anyone for that matter are totally irrelevant. Brad Underwood is a good, proven coach who has a program with tradition behind him, a large and rabid fan base and great facilities ... it should make absolutely zero sense why any instate recruit wouldn't want to be a part of that, and I can't wait for the day our fans are as big of homers as the folks on the Wake boards, quite frankly. :thumb:

Perhaps.

But because I'm the pessimistic type (or at best, cautiously optimistic), this might just be because THT announced his commitment date shortly after an Illinois visit, and people are assessing that he did so because he's going to Illinois.

I hope that's the case. More likely, in my view, he saw what he needed to see, and has all the information he needs to make his final decision. Either Illinois blew him away and he's ready to commit to us, or the visit confirmed in his mind that Iowa State is still his best option and is ready to make it official.

well it has to be one or the other right ..... lol

After all the collective hand-wringing, I can't believe how well this class could be coming together.

VIBES don't fail me now! :D

With THT, the Illinois 2018 BB recruiting class jumps to #32 nationally on 247's composite rankings in the current landscape. Their composite score of 48.02 would have only finished #49 in the country in 2017 after all commits were said and done. Just stating facts. This would still be a great class in my opinion.

Hypothetically if Tim Finke comes aboard, that vaults the class to a composite score of 59.67 and would put the class at #11 so far this year and #16 in last year's final rankings.

I tried to make a name to dispute their fantasy that WF is more academically prestigious than U of I. About 5 days later I got a rejection email similar to that of when you don't get a job but maybe even harsher. :thumb:
